Dear users, dear authors,
the weekend is over, and now it’s back to work. Don’t be sad—we have so many worthwhile patterns to look forward to for brightening up your evenings.
How are you all doing? What are you up to? What’s on your mind? How’s the weather?
How was your weekend? What are you doing this week?
Let me know.
Oh, I’m doing well. After two weeks with a cold, I’m finally feeling good again today. Maybe it’s also because of our vacation. We have a week off and just want to enjoy the time.
Weather-wise, it’s just so-so here in Swabia. Not warm, not cold, but dry. So it’s perfect for any kind of activity.
I’m doing very well (except for my bad hay fever, but that’s become so normal that it doesn’t even count anymore ;)).
The weekend was nice, but as always, too short.
I was especially happy about the Switzerland and Germany games over the weekend—they really lifted my spirits! :)
I live right next to Swabia, in beautiful Baden, where the weather isn’t great either. Every now and then you can catch a glimpse of blue patches in the sky, but otherwise…
Oh well, there are still plenty of great things to do, even when the weather’s gloomy.
Just 3.5 very busy days left. Then on Thursday afternoon, I’ll pack the car and head off on vacation veeeery early Friday morning!
Yay, I’m sure I’ll be in great spirits.
I’ve got my yarn and projects all ready, and despite my husband’s grumbling—about there being no room for yarn in the car—I’m going to crochet on the beach and work on my color project, too.
I’m still doing well, but unfortunately my cat is having a relapse, so we had to visit the vet today. The cortisone shot he gets is the only thing that helps—then he’s back to his old self :-)
I’m about to make some papaya-strawberry jam; let’s see how it tastes.
The weekend was relaxing and made even better by the result of the Germany vs. Sweden soccer game.
Weather-wise, summer is taking a break here in Lower Saxony, but I’m confident it’ll get better soon.
This week, I plan to finish my pattern and pick out a pattern for a Tunisian-crocheted garment.
Aside from a cold, I’m doing very well. The weather’s nice today, and I spent the whole morning working in the garden.
Now the bamboo is under control and the big flower bed looks presentable again.
My little one will be home from school soon—then we’ll have dinner and do homework. Later, I’ll continue knitting my blanket.
I’m doing pretty well so far, though I’m feeling a bit tired.
I’m currently continuing to knit my lace scarf, which seems like it’ll never end, even though I’ve been working on it for ages.
The weather here in Vienna is taking a break from the sun—it’s cloudy and cool, but that’s okay. It’s actually nice for crafting right now.
Tomorrow I’ll be meeting with my crafting group for the second time—I really enjoy it. I’m going to start knitting socks again tomorrow; it’s a nice change of pace from the lace scarf.
After a rather gray morning, the sun is shining again. As soon as the cherry clafoutis is in the oven, I’ll grab my weeding tools—it’s unbelievable how everything is running wild! After dinner, I’ll focus on the baby pants (so far, I’ve mostly been knitting backwards and
unraveling!). I’m afraid I won’t get very far with my projects this week, since Friday and Saturday evenings are taken up with trips to the opera, and on Saturday it will be performed outdoors! During the day, the garden, along with the cherries and currants, is calling to be harvested and processed.
My arm—or rather, my shoulder—is really bothering me again. I had to stop taking the painkillers because they were raising my blood pressure so much. Yesterday it was back up to 210/100. My heart was pounding in my ears.
But I can still crochet.
I just found out a little while ago that I’m going to be a grandma in January. It’s just a shame that my daughter doesn’t want any contact. So I probably won’t get to meet my grandchild. Well, the main thing is that everything goes well (she’s already 41) and the little one is healthy.
Oh Marlies, get well soon!
It’s wonderful that you’re going to be a grandma—maybe your daughter will change her mind once the little one arrives. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything will turn out well.
@Marlies: Whatever happened, I hope everything works out somehow and that you’ll get to meet your grandchild after all.
I had a pretty scary experience yesterday.
One of our cats didn’t come home. She’s been an indoor-only cat for 8 years and has been allowed outside since March.
She’s usually always nearby and comes home every 15 minutes to check if it’s finally time to eat. Yesterday she just didn’t show up, and we spent half the night looking for her. That’s when you start imagining the worst.
She didn’t come home until noon today. Hungry, totally dirty, and scared, but unharmed.
My sister drove over to our house to wait for her and then sent me a picture. I almost cried tears of joy. I’m sooo relieved and happy!
(I don’t think I should ever have a child—I’d be living in a constant state of panic!)
@ Tina
Yes, I guess that’s just how it is: once you give your heart to a living being, you can’t escape the worries anymore! But it’s definitely worth it!
Marlies, maybe it’ll comfort you to know that my husband also didn’t have contact with his daughter for a long time. When his granddaughter turned 4, that fortunately changed, and he was very happy about it. In the meantime, he’s also talked things through with his daughter—everything’s been sorted out.
I wish the same for you with all my heart!
Tina, a pet is just as dear to our hearts as a child. Your cat was probably looking for an adventure and got to know the world a little better. Loving also means letting go… and that’s what hurts the most. I’m so glad she’s back! :-)
