I’m feeling a bit up and down right now—I can’t wait for spring to arrive so my mood can improve again.
I’m currently trying out different Tunisian crochet patterns; I think they’re totally awesome and I’m having a lot of fun with them.
I’m also working on a cozy pillow for my kitties.
I’m at home right now because my panic attacks are bothering me again. Knitting and crocheting help take my mind off things a bit. And reading, writing, and browsing here with you all.
I think it’s wonderful that you find comfort, distraction, inspiration, and new ideas here in the forum and on the platform, including and especially when things aren’t going so well for you.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all of you.
Yes, the weather really gets everyone down. Here in Norway, it’s still snow, snow, snow everywhere you look. I’m totally “burned out” from work, too, and I’m eagerly waiting for some “green” outside and sunshine… My vacation isn’t until May.
That’s why I also like to stop by here on cp and get inspired. Crocheting with colorful yarn really does lift my spirits and helps me unwind a bit.
It doesn’t seem to be a very good day for anyone today. I’ve been trying for almost 4 hours to get the French vocabulary words into my daughter’s head because she has a test tomorrow and it only just occurred to her today that she still needs to learn them. 45 words in total, and she still has 16 she hasn’t memorized yet. It’s going to be a long evening—I can forget about my knitting needles today :(
Dievomdeich: Take care of yourself and don’t overdo it. :-)
Anja: I sincerely hope you feel better soon and that knitting and crocheting help take your mind off things.
I got a lot done in the basement today and am starting to doubt my husband’s sanity a bit: I found second-grade notebooks...
A few other “treasures” are now piled up, and I hope he’ll sort them out.
Right now, I’m relaxing as I crochet a blanket from thick leftover yarn using a size 10 crochet hook.
I wish everyone who’s struggling physically or mentally all the best! After every low, things eventually look up again! :)
Mel: Have you got your vocabulary down?
Back in school, I always used to sit in the bathtub to memorize things—no distractions, nothing else. I’d put my study materials in a plastic sleeve and off I’d go :)
I’m actually doing wonderful. Except that one of my cats is driving me absolutely crazy.
We adopted them from the shelter; they’ve lived as indoor cats for 8 years now...
After we moved into the house (there’s a huge field behind it, with almost no traffic), we wanted to let them outside.
For the past few days, we’ve been slowly getting them used to it, a little bit each day while keeping an eye on them.
One won’t go out at all—she’s scared...
But the other one likes it so much that she yells all day and all night because she wants to go out :D
I’m glad we’re making them happy... but it’s really exhausting, going without any sleep at all ;)
It’s never happened before that we’ve spent sooo long learning vocabulary.
But there was also an extreme lack of motivation, with comments like, “I’m not going to manage it today anyway!” (in short: puberty).
Generally, she goes through the vocabulary in small chunks (10 words a day) a few times, and I quiz her on them.
She usually gets most of them right away; the rest are written down and studied again. The day before the test, we go over everything again—both orally and in writing—and then she’s got it down.
This time, though, she didn’t tell me she had new ones to learn, so she had to learn them all at once for today’s test.
But she’s got them down now, and we’re hoping for the best.....
I'm definitely doing better than in February.
The crocheting is coming along well too. However, I have to
take a break now and then because my arm still
hurts.
@Nadeleule:
I know what that's like with studying vocabulary. We have to get down to it on Sunday.
Our daughter has a vocabulary test on Monday.
Thanks so much for keeping your fingers crossed!
Oh, I’m actually pretty confident. After all, they take a test in French every week, and even if a “3” slips in now and then, it doesn’t really matter that much.
Marlies, I’m so happy for you that you can do crafts again without any pain!
To everyone who isn’t feeling their best right now, I wish you lots of sunshine and warmth. That’ll help lift your spirits soon. Ever since a friend gave us the book “Healthy in 7 Days” two years ago, we haven’t had any winter blues or flu-related absences.
I’m still doing well and I’m looking forward to maybe knitting and crocheting in the garden over the next few days. It’s supposed to be 16 degrees with sunshine this weekend. Let’s see.....
March is definitely my favorite month. I always enjoy the anticipation of spring coming. We still have the most beautiful season ahead of us and can look forward to it.
I also still enjoy using up my “diet yarn.” It’s already creating “holes” in my drawers, which means there’s room for something new.
Craft-wise, things are going quite well—the table runner is finished, the first double-faced potholder as a birthday present for my sister is about halfway done (all diet cotton!), and tomorrow I’ll start on the baby blanket (newly bought merino wool).
Even though I’m very busy, I miss my husband, who’ll still be in South America for another two weeks.
