You can never have enough time for crocheting, but I’m really
satisfied. That goes for my “yarn diet” too. I’ve been very
good so far and haven’t bought any yarn, even though there have been several opportunities to do so
.
Everyone at home is healthy, and in the evenings and on weekends, I manage to find an hour or two for myself to crochet or sometimes knit.
Otherwise, I’m out and about a lot with my husband and dog, or skiing and snowboarding with the kids.
Things are still quiet at my “day job” too. The calm before the storm, I’m afraid, but I’m enjoying the time while it lasts.
So as far as I’m concerned, 2018 can keep going this relaxed.
Hello Josefa, everything’s fine for me too. I have more than enough time for crafts, but unfortunately I always have so many ideas, so right now my pile of unfinished projects is growing rather than shrinking.
But as for the yarn diet, I’m still sticking to it. I haven’t bought a single ball of yarn—not even a tiny one—and I’ve already crocheted and knitted quite a bit from my stash.
Yes, things are going great for me this year, too. I’ve already knitted and crocheted up quite a bit of leftover yarn and am bravely sticking to my yarn diet. This time, I even plan to keep it up for quite a while to finally make room for new yarn in my closets. It goes hand in hand with spring cleaning.
As a bonus, this is also letting me finish a few little Valentine’s Day and Easter gifts that cost nothing but time—and I’m actually having fun doing it.
Everyone here is healthy, too, so things can really keep going this way. :-)
I’ll be glad if the year doesn’t continue at the same pace as last week and the current one, where one appointment follows another, but things are looking up… Aside from a silly cough and a runny nose, I’m healthy, and in the evenings I usually find some time to knit—after all, my stash should shrink a bit by the end of the month. The first pair of gloves still needs three fingers, a second pair is at least cast on, and the unravelled scarf has already grown a few centimeters again.
Right now, my thoughts are mainly focused on my new shop—we’ll be moving in the next few months...
There are lots of UFOs waiting to be finished, so new ideas are on the back burner for now. Maybe I’ll manage to make something small for the color challenge ;-).
An 80th birthday and a 90th birthday are on the celebration list this year, plus a wedding—so, of course, knitted items will be needed. My calendar is already pretty full. This year is going to be exciting :-))))
I had to take a bit of a step back at the end of last year.
Because of my new job—which, by the way, I like much better (so quitting the old one was a good decision)—time got a little tight, and at first I was always super tired because everything was new, and I had little motivation to crochet.
This year, I want to get back into it full steam ahead. I’ve gathered ideas, sorted my yarn, and planned when to tackle each project to avoid letting any of them become UFOs. Things are getting off to a slow start so far, but I also haven’t posted any new patterns in quite a while, and that’s really starting to show.
I’m looking forward to 2018—I think it’s going to be a great year!
After a bit of a slump at the end of last year, I’m now back in full swing! The next pattern is already in the works, and right now I’m working on a sweater. If it turns out well, I’ll post a pattern for it too. I’ve also already started on my first Easter projects. Yeah, I’d say things are going well :0)
Things have calmed down a bit. If all goes well, my mom will be coming home from the hospital on Friday. We’ll see. I’m not really in the right frame of mind for complicated crafts right now, so everything I’m making is pretty simple. But I’ve finished a shawl pattern; I’m having it tested now before it’s published.
I wish you all the best of luck and perseverance for your projects and whatever you’re working on right now. From what I’ve seen of you here in this thread, you’re definitely up to the task.
Plus, you can always find support from other users and authors here on the forum.
You’ve got this—I believe in you.
Basically, things are going as usual—my daily life is just plodding along.
My time for crafting is always subject to big fluctuations; in the evenings, I usually don’t have the energy and end up dozing off over my needles. So I’ve turned into more of an early-morning knitter.
What’s not going well at all right now is my creativity. I’m fiddling around and experimenting—yes, I have ideas—but either I end up not liking it, or I suddenly don’t like the colors anymore. Or it just doesn’t come easily to me, and after the first few rows, I realize I don’t want to keep working on the piece. Another thing that happens to me time and again: I’ve made a piece that I really like, but it turns out I’ll never be able to write a clear, easy-to-follow pattern for it.
That’s exactly what’s happening right now with the I-don’t-know-how-manyth draft for the color challenge.
But I know it’ll pass. I’m sure you go through phases like this, too. You just can’t force things, and it’s best to put everything aside so you don’t put pressure on yourself. So I went back to weaving or bending wire—just for myself. That’s nice, too.
Caro, yes, I know that too. That’s why I’m not putting any pressure on myself here either—it doesn’t help anyone. The most important thing is that we enjoy it; otherwise, the motivation and ideas fall by the wayside. Lately, I’ve also just made things now and then without writing a pattern for them.
Creativity will come back, you’ll see. Just let go for a while. ;-)
You already have such beautiful things in your shop, and I’m sure there will be lots of new things moving in there this year too.
