New in November 2016:
This Excel spreadsheet with automatic calculation function is available here

This Excel spreadsheet is a tool for calculating your desired measurements for a knitted or crocheted Möbius scarf and the corresponding number of cast-on stitches according to your personal gauge.
For this, you need the Excel spreadsheet program or another calculation program available for free download on the internet, such as LibreOffice.

The download includes:
  • Excel spreadsheet with calculated formulas
  • PDF explanation of the Möbius principle

And here, to go with the MÖBIUS theme, there's also
this illustrated PDF pattern "3 Techniques - Möbius Scarf-Cowl-Headband - Knitted"

Here the basic principle and three cast-on techniques for knitting Möbius scarves/loops are presented. Try them out and choose your favorite method :-)
The PDF pattern is illustrated and contains 2 pattern models (see image gallery).

Model 1 – Colorful - is a Möbius loop/scarf with a circumference of approx. 90 cm and a height of approx. 20 cm, which can be worn wonderfully in different ways as a shoulder warmer and neck warmer (see image gallery). For this we need
only 1 ball of Woolly Hugs Bandy, here color no. 7, 100 g – 210 m, 100% cotton,
gauge according to the ball band: 14 sts x 20 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm;
US size 10 (6.0 mm) circular knitting needle with a 1 m cable length;
stitch marker; tape measure, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.
If needed, leftover yarn in a slightly thinner, color-coordinated yarn (e.g. Record 210 – potholder yarn, here in green) and 4.5 mm crochet hook.

Model II – Möbius cowl in milk white snuggles wonderfully around the neck like a turtleneck, but can also be worn as a headband. This model is wonderfully suitable as a gift and can be knitted in just a few hours. For this we need
only 1 ball of merino yarn, 50 g – 85 m, e.g. Merino 85 by Austermann or Schachenmayr, 100% merino, according to the ball band for needle size 6–7 and a gauge of 16 sts x 22 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm.
Used here: 6.0 mm circular knitting needle, cable length 80 cm to 100 cm;
stitch marker; tape measure, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

Both models are worked in a simple reversible rib pattern.

These knitting skills are required:
casting on stitches, knit and purl stitches, knitting in the round,
knit stitches together, purl stitches together, yarn over, bind off.
A basic knitting course is not included, but helpful links are.

By the way: my shop also has gehäkelte Möbius-Schals - it's worth browsing.

Wishing you success,
Traudelina

Getting a real Christmas tree can involve a lot of stress -
first hauling it, then sawing it to size, and then it might still
not stand straight despite all your efforts.
If you’d like an alternative, just crochet yourself a Christmas tree. With baubles, bows, garlands, and a star on top. And the best part: it doesn’t shed needles ;-)
Using the original yarn (Catania by Schachenmayr) and a 3.0 mm crochet hook, the tree will be approx. 25-26 cm tall and have a diameter of approx. 16 cm - so it’s the perfect size for the living room table, windowsill, bedside table, desk, etc............... And you can use it again every year ;-)
What you need to know: chain stitch, single crochet, decreasing and increasing stitches, slip stitch, crocheting into the back loop, crocheting in rounds
I hope you have lots of fun crocheting it and wish you a wonderful Christmas season ;-)

Crochet yourself a super trendy poncho. Add a matching hat, and
your new outfit for winter is perfect.

What you need:
some crochet experience - you need to know half double crochet, front/back post double crochet, and chain stitches
thick yarn - approx. 850 g total for hook size 8-10, or crocheted with double strands for hook size 4-5 mm
and of course an 8 mm crochet hook

With  Lucia you'll get through fall/winter in style.

If your children or grandchildren are getting a play kitchen or a pretend store for Christmas, they’re sure to be delighted with some delicious, handmade crocheted items for it.

Starting today, you’ll also find this pattern for a fruit salad in my store...

For this, you’ll need leftover cotton yarn with a yardage of approx. 125 m/50 g, a 2.5 mm crochet hook, scissors, a yarn needle, and a little stuffing.

You should already know the following:
Magic ring, chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet, crocheting in joined and continuous rounds, increasing and decreasing stitches, crocheting in the front/back loop.

The pattern is explained in detail and every step is illustrated.

Take a look at my other menus for the play kitchen too.
A great idea for an Advent calendar as well.

Now have lots of fun crocheting it!
If you have any questions, just send me a message.

Best regards
Sarah

Do you still need a place for your Christmas treats? This pretty storage basket fits wonderfully into any Christmas decor and offers plenty of room for your favorite cookies—or lots of other little things.

You only need about 120 g of your favorite yarn, a size 4.5 crochet hook, and a bit of prior crochet knowledge—the rest is explained in the pattern, including a crochet chart for the outer pattern.

So don't hesitate, because Christmas isn't far away!

The November blues don’t stand a chance here: Frida Kahlo inspired me with her rich colors to create these wrist warmers, and I dug deep into my leftover yarn box! The result is this cheerful, colorful pair of wrist warmers knitted in a Fair Isle pattern. You can use any yarn in the weight of 4-ply sock yarn, and for anyone who would like to make them exactly the same way, I have picked out and noted the matching colors from the many colors of Joruns Botany merino wool. Of course, you can also use fewer colors or choose a completely different color combination; there are no limits to creativity!

Have fun knitting,
Annette

If you’re looking for a quick gift, then “Magic Lights” is a wonderful idea. All you need is an empty yogurt jar and suitable yarn, and you’re ready to get started. The stitches in the middle are designed to let plenty of light through, so the candlelight shines beautifully outward.

Especially now during the Christmas season, this lantern is a great idea as a little gift add-on to a voucher or money gift.

You can find all the information about the required materials, the stitches used and the yarn, as well as the pattern, here:To the Crocheted Jar “Magic Lights”

Harlequin - Crocheted Star Poncho

A harlequin is a jester in a brightly colorful costume. In comedy, the harlequin is considered a European phenomenon that has been around for centuries. So it is exactly the right namesake for this equally colorful children’s poncho.

The color gradient comes from a trendy cake yarn, which means you avoid the tedious weaving in of ends.
This pattern is a customer-requested pattern for everyone who would like to have an Asteria but can’t knit.

You simply crochet in rounds and let the color gradient do the work. At the end, you only need to weave in the starting and ending ends.

What do you need to know?

  • chain stitches
  • single crochet stitches
  • double crochet stitches
  • decreases or crocheting stitches together
  • post double crochet stitches
The basic techniques listed are not explained in the pattern.

This is all included:
•suitable for beginners
•recommended from size 74/86
•Expandable up to adult XXL

These materials are what you need at home:
•1 skein 1200 m yardage, 4-ply, Garnstube brand
•Alternatively sock yarn or lace yarn
•Crochet hooks 3.5 mm and 6 mm
•1 stitch marker
•Scissors
•Yarn needle

How about these handmade Christmas tree baubles?

These baubles, measuring approx. 7 x 8.5 x 8 cm, are made from photo cardstock and are therefore unbreakable. Since the baubles have rather small gluing surfaces, you need a little crafting experience and, above all, dexterity for them, but if enlarged a bit (as hanging decorations?), they are also suitable for beginners, and if enlarged significantly, even for crafting with children, because they are not complicated at all.

Advent Sundays, and especially the Christmas season, are often stressful, but everyone should still find time to sit down at the table with family. Why not at breakfast with egg cozies that get you perfectly in the mood for the coming season? These egg cozies are also well suited for beginners. But maybe they don’t just look good on an egg? If the grandchild gets bored after all, you can also slip the egg cozies over your hand, and there’s something to laugh about again. For decorative purposes, you can also place an LED light under the snowman and the polar bear. Of course, you can also put an egg cozy set in the St. Nicholas boots, or in the Advent calendar, or give it as a Christmas gift.

So far, the snowman and Santa Claus have been added; the rest will follow later this month.

You can find what you need for each pattern in the respective product text. But for each egg cozy you need:

- A 3.0 mm crochet hook

- Schachenmayr Bravo yarn in various colors; leftover yarn is often enough

- Embroidery thread in various colors

Here are my Christmas patterns

"Ralle" the reindeer with the glowing nose made it just in time for the first little snowflakes today. Display him lying down as a tea light holder or hang him on your door / wall, and he’s guaranteed to give you glowing hours :) He shines especially beautifully when backlit... Curious?

He’s about 23 cm tall; as a door wreath, he measures about 30 cm long with the hanging bow.

Quick to crochet, beginner-friendly, and you’ll need about 70 grams of yarn, a suitable crochet hook, felt for the eyes, and of course an LED tea light.

Get "Ralle".

Best regards
Steffi

Here I have another Christmas-themed gift wrapping for your presents.

The little sack reliably hides its contents until gift-giving time and is quick to open. It’s especially well suited for several small gifts, or even larger ones that are difficult or very difficult to wrap in wrapping paper.
The packaging is made from photo cardstock and measures approx. 23 x 30 x 13 cm. It’s actually easy to craft, but not necessarily suitable for your very first crafting attempt.

The wonderfully light yet warm PaYaLa shawl can also be worn as a scarf.
The pattern consists of just 16 rows and is easy to remember.
The yarn is Yak Lace (50g = 400m). Any other lace yarn can be used, but it should be at least 700m.

For everyone who likes Christmas in gold and silver, I’ve made these Christmas tree ornaments.

They’re mainly made of corrugated cardboard and measure about 8 x 7 x 5 cm.
When gluing silver and gold surfaces, the drying time is a bit longer than usual, so you’ll need a little more patience with these colors. Otherwise, the ornaments are easy to make and well suited even for beginners.

HAMBURG AHOY! To counter Hamburg’s dreary weather, I designed the HAMBURG AHOY shawl and matching wrist warmers. Wrap yourselves in cozy, warm accessories with a maritime flair!
Both the wrist warmers and the shawl are intended for advanced beginners who have a little patience. The start of the shawl is a bit tricky, but not all that difficult either. You can do it! And after that it gets really easy.

Here’s the shawl: Click!

Let’s add a little color to November. With this cozy shawl made from 3 skeins of Alpaca Fino or 150 g of Baby Merino—both by Pascuali—November will instantly feel a bit cheerier. This knitted shawl is beginner-friendly and described row by row. Some sections also include charts, since many people prefer working with them.

Just went online today and perfect for the cold winter season, when all you want to do is snuggle up :)

Soul warmer - Esmeralda

Esmeralda is a Spanish first name that means gemstone. The best-known character associated with this name is the gypsy woman from Victor Hugo’s novel “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.”

Since this soul warmer looks very elegant, but also gently caresses the soul, it was the perfect analogy for me.

Across the 7 pages of the pattern, you will find a complete crochet chart, as well as an explanation and photos for the finishing. The first rows are also explained in writing.
You are buying the pattern for a one-size model. That means you can crochet all sizes from XS - XXXL with this pattern. How to determine the measurements for this is explained in one step.

What do you need to know?
  • chain stitches
  • double crochet
  • clusters
  • single crochet
  • half double crochet
  • slip stitches
  • back post half double crochet
The basic techniques listed are not explained in the pattern.

All of this is included:
  • pattern suitable for beginners
  • complete electronic crochet chart
  • all sizes from XS - XXXL possible
You’ll need these materials at home:
  • 1 skein, 1200 m length, 4-ply, Garnzauber brand from Emmas-Laden
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • scissors
  • yarn needle
  • measuring tape
