Dear users, dear authors,
we’ve talked about nail polish, shoes, and recipes, but we left out pretty hairstyles.
That just won’t do.
If you’re having a bad hair day, you can, of course, find patterns for decorative headscarves at Crazypatterns—they’re also great as sun protection. : )
If you don’t like headscarves, you can also try a crocheted cowboy hat.
Which of you has beautiful hair?
My hair looks great ;)
Especially since it’s nice and short... in the morning, a spray bottle of water is all I need “in a pinch” to tidy everything up and make it look nice again *top*
Headscarves and hats just don’t suit me at all—but they look great on the little ones! That’s why I love making little hats, beanies, headscarves, etc...
Oh, my hair… that’s a whole other story. ;-)
I already mentioned in the nail thread that I dye it. And I’ve been using the same color for X years now. At one point I wanted to go darker, but I really regretted that…
I haven’t set foot inside a hair salon in ages. My mom trims the ends every now and then, and otherwise it’s all one length. At night, I wrap the lengths around foam rollers. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years now, and I sleep just fine with them in. Without them, I just end up lying on top of my hair since it’s pretty long. Then I wake up because it’s tugging. ;-)
And with the rollers, I wake up in the morning with nice, curly ends—it looks well-groomed even without styling. ;-)
I don’t really have “bad hair days.” Only when I don’t feel like styling my hair do I sometimes put on a cap to walk the dog. Otherwise, I pin my hair up, put it in a bun, or whatever. Most of the time I wear it down, because that’s how I like it best.
My hair was shoulder-length, and I always had to tie it back in a ponytail. That doesn’t sound so bad, but since I have very heavy hair, it tugs at my scalp. So I had a good 15 cm cut off, and it’s still chin-length. I won’t wear it any shorter than that, since I have so many cowlicks and look like Pumuckl in the morning… or like an electrician’s wife, haha. Now I can crochet again without a curtain in front of my eyes.
No more dyeing… I’m a grandmother twice over and am allowed to have gray hair.
My little boy (who’ll be 5 soon) thinks I’m pretty enough just the way I am, though he can’t figure out why other moms still dye their hair :-)
I don’t wear headscarves, and on a bad hair day I just borrow a hat from the family… everyone has a straw hat, and then Mom wears it.
I inherited strong natural curls from my grandma (she always said, “Curly hair, curly mind—the devil’s right in the middle of it”). My hair just does whatever the weather does. A good haircut is a must—but it doesn’t always help.
I’m the family hairdresser.... I didn’t actually train as a hairdresser myself, but my best friend did, and she did so many “practice cuts” on me back then—dyeing and all sorts of things. I studied with her for her exams, and a lot of that knowledge has stuck with me. I cut my own hair, my kids’ hair, and my husband’s hair, and I dye my own hair, too. It’s quick and inexpensive. I have hair-cutting equipment—I just upgraded it in 2012—and I’ve even been asked to cut the hair of a few friends and their kids because, apparently, I’m pretty good at it.
I dye my hair about 3–4 times a year with the cheap Accent hair dye from Rossmann in black. That said, I’d love to try other colors sometimes, like blue, pink, purple, green... But with my long hair, I can’t afford a trip to the salon on my budget.
My grandma takes care of the trimming—it sometimes turns out a bit crooked and uneven, but it saves money.
@kagome_chan
Yeah, same here. And on principle, I refuse to spend that much money at the salon. It never turns out the way I want it to anyway. And the hair dyes you find in regular stores aren’t really any different from the ones used at the salon—neither are the hair masks and conditioners.
Well, I’m a minimalist when it comes to the hair salon, too. I go in with washed hair, get it cut, and that’s it. Cost: between 10 and 15 euros, 3 to 4 times a year......
Somehow I don’t think topics like this belong on a crafts website. I just find this kind of banter pointless, and it annoys me when I have to scroll past it. There are more important topics that should be discussed here in the forum. Sure, I’m being a killjoy now, but that’s just my opinion.
All the endless birthday wishes are annoying, too. One thread for that would have been more than enough, instead of mentioning each person in a separate thread. We’re adults, after all.
I agree with Sabine.
A forum is also meant for everyday topics, and I think it’s great that these topics help lighten the mood.
Personally, I’ve been missing the chance to chat about something other than just crafts for a long time now. ☺
I’d love it if things stayed this way.
@Danie
The more posts and users there are here in the forum, the better it is for everyone, since that affects the forum’s popularity on Google.
The more popular the forum is on Google, the more traffic it gets. The more traffic, the more people here; the more people here, the higher the chance of more pattern sales
-->It’s also in your best interest for the threads here in the forum to do well. Birthday threads also help build customer loyalty and author loyalty. : )
