Dear users, dear designers,
I assume that by the end of the week you will all have bravely recreated this for your loved ones—or, if you’re a man, for yourselves. Please upload photos as proof. :-D
Click here for the new men’s crochet trend.

Lol, and my stepdad practically had a fit when I put his 50th birthday present—the Viking hat—on his head. Although a few weeks later, he suddenly said that it actually suits him perfectly. ;)

I’ve always believed: “It’s what’s on the inside that counts!” ;)

Wow, you’re really setting the bar high there.... ;-)
I’m afraid I can’t provide that. ;-)

I’ve only been married for a year—if I show up with this, there won’t be a second anniversary! :-(

Dear Josefa, if I show up with that, they’ll have me locked up. Just imagine my 2-meter-tall men in that ;-) and the amount of yarn it would take.

I’m afraid my husband would run away from me—and my son would (just to be safe) run right along with him :D

I don’t know what your problem is.
The men’s trend from the picture above is
1. colorful
2. something special.
Not the usual same old trend for once.
But okay, if you don’t like that, how about this?
http://ilblog.paoloruffini.it/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/70s-men-fashion-281__700.jpg
Among other things, a lovely poncho for fall or cool summer evenings that shows off a man with life experience to good advantage. It even has fringe, and the man in the poncho doesn’t look unhappy.
The sweater in tasteful mustard yellow is sure to go well with a green salad with lots of vitamins, or alternatively with a bratwurst, in which case mustard stains won’t stand out as much anymore.

Here in the picture, too, the man with the poncho doesn’t look unhappy. The zigzag pattern is quite nice as well. (in a pinch, you could also use it as a rug—just without the head hole, then)
I conclude from this that ponchos will be the men’s trend for fall.
Please go ahead and prepare the corresponding patterns. ;- )
You know that fashion likes to repeat itself. The ’70s are still in anyway.
The man in the little shirt on the right could probably mow the lawn in this outfit, too.
The man on the left without any little pants—that’s going a bit too far, although the top is quite acceptable.

If you insist that none of this is your thing, then just click here.
This men’s trend is definitely not crocheted.

This has nothing to do with the fact that we don’t like it. ;-))
I’d love to knit something for my husband, but he fights it tooth and nail lol.

By the way, the latest men’s trend photo is especially yummy. ;-)

:D :D I’m laughing my head off.

Sorry, but I think even trying that would end fatally... if not, I’d at least end up in a padded cell. And the judge would most likely rule in his favor—

I don’t think I’d want to take that risk ;)

Actually, it’s kind of sad that our men don’t appreciate our handiwork... ;-)
It’s so easy to make us happy:

“Honey, look—I saw this great yarn and I’d love for you to knit or crochet me a stylish sweater or scarf with it.”

That one sentence!!! Better than any diamond jewelry!!! ;-))))

You’re right! But that’s exactly why it’s so great here on CP! Here, people know how to appreciate the work and effort that goes into it, and you aren’t just fobbed off with a “yeah, nice”—without anyone really looking at it...

I have to say, it really puts my mind at ease that your men are just like mine. :-)
When I first started crocheting, he wanted a hat, too. I got to work, and it turned out really nice. ...
Unfortunately, it just didn’t look right on his head. Ever since then, I’ve had to spare him my crocheted stuff.
The best part was what he said: “You’re not giving these to all our friends, are you? Otherwise we’ll soon have none left!” :-)))))
“Men!!!!”

Now I have to weigh in on this, too.
I really love the pictures for the men. It’s just that my husband and my son flat-out refuse to wear anything that’s been crocheted, knitted, or sewn by hand.
BUT I can always turn to my dad. He’s the one who’s always making requests. He used to love having my mom knit for him, and then I took over a few years ago. And he knows how to appreciate every single piece.
And my dad lives by the motto: Stand out at any cost.
I can’t upload a photo of the finished piece right now—I’m still working on it. It’s going to be a fall vest with a zipper and hood, featuring a very intricate knitting pattern. Of course, it has side pockets and a wonderful shade of green that works for both elegant and casual looks.
I’ll show him the photo of the “crocheted men” at the next opportunity. I’m curious to see how he reacts.

I knitted a single sweater for my husband—he actually wanted it made from a specific type of yarn. It’s no masterpiece, but he really does wear it in the winter!

Hi Nadeleule,
The sweater looks great—maybe I should learn to knit after all. Unfortunately, I can't knit at all. I think sweaters and ponchos just look better when they’re knitted. And maybe I can make my husband happy with one....
But so far, I just haven’t dared to try knitting.

Knitting isn’t exactly my strong suit either, but this is an RVO (top-down raglan)—you basically knit it all in one piece. If you can knit and purl, it’s really easy.

I can’t knit either—but when you see that sweater… It’s really beautiful!

I don’t need to make anything for my better half either… At least nothing to wear… It was just like with you, Arni… He absolutely wanted a beanie in the colors of his favorite team… Said and done! It looked really good! But absolutely terrible on his head. (Strangely enough, it looks good on me, but I don’t really like that team :D)

At first, he was totally into amigurumi in the shape of all kinds of comic or movie characters he likes… Star Wars, The Simpsons, The Hobbit, ... (And above all, my Simpsons ones are really good—if I may say so myself :D) These days, he’s completely unimpressed.... He doesn’t even really look at them anymore... He’ll glance at something new with a “Hmm” and that’s it...

But I’m not allowed to give the stuff away either... Men...

I’ve actually never held knitting needles before, but you can learn anything. :-)
I might actually give it a try. There are probably plenty of tutorials on YouTube. Unfortunately, I don’t have anyone I can ask.

It doesn’t always have to be something to wear. I designed a crocheted tractor for my husband (the pattern is now available in my shop). Now he’s fighting tooth and nail to keep me from giving even one away. :-)

Like I said, my guy was totally into amigurumi at first. But now he’s gotten tired of it and isn’t into it anymore… At some point, he’d had enough of that too :D

Mine likes the amigurumis as long as they’re not visibly sitting around the apartment.
But sometimes he’s really strange too :-)

My husband doesn’t say anything at all about amigurumi. At most, he’ll go “hmm” (a reaction similar to SchokoCookie). But then again, we don’t really have that many lying around.
But when I block my shawls in the bedroom, he’ll sometimes come in and say, “That looks good.” And that’s already a huge compliment. ;-)
He still doesn’t like me knitting things for him, though. I once bought such great yarn—special “men’s colors”—and really wanted to knit him a stylish scarf. But no—he’d rather buy one for X euros just because it has a New Zealand label on it... Men! :-\/\/\/

@Arni and everyone who would like to learn how to knit - on YouTube there’s Elizzza’s channel. She explains everything really wonderfully. Absolutely recommended. :-)

Oh, thank you so, so much. I’ll check that out later.
...
That New Zealand label sounds familiar somehow. :-)

That’s right—I’ve often picked up helpful tips there, too! Great explanations and not too fast-paced

So I’m allowed to knit for my men—anything that goes in the direction of a sailor outfit—and sewing is still fine too. And when it comes to amigurumi, my husband gets his hands on everything and always mutters an apology, because he absolutely always manages to pick up only the pinned pieces, so the whole thing falls apart :-)
He then examines it critically from all sides, and then it comes:

“But that’s not quite right!” — the biologist in him speaks up, and our youngest then objects, “But that’s how it’s supposed to be!” He does have good suggestions too and praises the things ... he just doesn’t want to be given them as gifts, hehe

And our whole house is filled with these things — even my uncle scrounged one from me and put it in his display case!

What about the men who crochet here in the forum? Do you make things for yourselves? Or what kinds of things would you like?
