Dear users, dear designers,
there may be readers who feel that it’s too early for Advent and Christmas. On the other hand, we also have readers who like to get started with Advent and Christmas during the year / as early as possible, because they enjoy making a lot themselves and don’t want to be under time pressure during Advent . I would politely ask those for whom it’s too early for Christmas to ignore this thread and, if they like, click on the bestsellers instead. To everyone who would like to get started with Christmas, I hope you have lots of fun with it.

@designers,
no quantity limit. Don’t forget links, images, info, etc.

A wonderful decoration during the Christmas season is a nativity scene with crocheted figures. It’s ideal if you start early. You can crochet them little by little from leftover yarn and incorporate your own ideas as you go.
In my shop there are 3 patterns for this, so you can expand your nativity scene step by step. At about 10 cm, the nativity figures are an ideal size: they don’t take up too much space, but are still “crochetable.”

Basic set: Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, Christ Child in the manger), ox, donkey, poinsettia

Nativity scene expansion: 3 different shepherds, 2 different sheep, Christmas angel

Nativity scene expansion: Three Wise Men with gifts, horse, elephant, camel

The Heavenly Orchestra  with the sweet little chubby angels, each playing an instrument, is also a beautiful Christmas decoration. The angels also match the nativity figures in size and can be crocheted as an additional expansion. But you can also give one of these little angels on its own as a guardian angel, keychain, or bag charm.

Santa Claus with sleigh and reindeer

Santa Claus can also be used as an Advent calendar during Advent, refilled each day. This prevents overly curious companions from opening all the little packages too early. The individual parts (sleigh, sack, reindeer, Santa Claus) are not permanently attached to one another, so you can decorate them differently each day and signal that the Advent calendar has been filled again.

These little Christmas trees in different sizes can also be used as an Advent calendar. They are hollow inside and open at the bottom, so in the right size they can also be used as egg cozies.

If you’d like to make sustainable, reusable gift packaging for Christmas that also looks decorative, I have a few suggestions for you:

3 Christmas gift bags

simple gift bags for St. Nicholas Day or Christmas (any size)

Santa Claus candy jar

 Nutcracker (opens up)

You can find even more Christmas crochet patterns in my shop in the Christmas collection.

I’ve only just really settled into summer and don’t quite feel like thinking about Christmas yet ;-) But if you make a lot of your own Christmas decorations or want to put lots of handmade gifts under the Christmas tree, you do of course have to start in good time. So here are a few Christmasy / wintry suggestions from me that you can get started on for Christmas already.

If you start in good time, you can work on your Advent and Christmas projects in a totally relaxed way. No crafting under time pressure—that’s just wonderful. Here are my suggestions for you. I hope you enjoy looking at them and making them yourself.

Warm regards from Ina

Christmas or gift bag

It is crocheted from inexpensive acrylic yarn. The base is sturdy. You can use it to give all kinds of lovely things as gifts in style.

Snow crystal gift tag

You can always use it, whether as decoration in a Christmas arrangement or as a tag on a gift. It is stiffened and keeps its shape.

Advent calendar made of 24 little bags

You can crochet them wonderfully from your colorful leftover yarn. The numbers from 1 to 24 are included as a printable template. You can hang the filled bags on a hanger or arrange them on a tray.

Santa boot

Yes, you can make these yourself beautifully, too. Simply crochet lots of hexagons and join them together. Add a pom-pom and fill with surprises. After December 6, once everything has been eaten up, they still make lovely decorations.

For some Christmas preparations, it’s actually highly advisable to start early enough. For example, anyone who likes to give Advent calendars as gifts knows how much time they take and starts crafting them now.
If you’re interested in this topic, you should definitely take a look at my Advent calendar collection.

Here I really want to show you this knight’s castle.

The Advent calendar is made of photo cardstock and measures approx. 18.5 x 34 x 18.5 cm. The tower in the middle can be removed – it is packaging for gifts that do not fit into the small numbered containers.

The calendar isn’t really difficult to make, but it does require time, patience, and precision. So it is only suitable for crafters who already have some experience.

Christmas always comes so suddenly!
Not for us, because we’re already thinking about Christmas in the summer.
We’re knitting and crocheting like busy little elves. 😊

Below I’ll show you a few bookmarks with Christmas motifs.
You can also use them as bag charms or attach them to a zipper as a pendant…

Even if you want to decorate your Christmas tree with handmade ornaments, you should start crafting in good time.

I made these approx. 5 x 9 cm ornaments from photo cardstock, holographic paper, or glitter paper. Other sturdy types of paper are also very suitable for them.

With a little crafting experience and dexterity, the ornaments can be recreated very easily.

If you’d like to start crocheting for Christmas, it’s best to choose a cute amigurumi, because they’re a lot of fun both as toys and as Christmas decorations.
I now have these in my Crazy Patterns shop (all in Dutch, German, and English (US terms))

You simply won’t have the time for more elaborate Christmas gifts right before Christmas. To ensure your loved ones really get what you’ve planned for them, you shouldn’t put off preparing gifts for too long.

This explosion box could be prepared as much as possible now and then, shortly before Christmas, just filled with candy.

The box is about 10.5 cm tall, made of cardstock, and decorated with patterned paper.

You really can’t start early enough with Advent calendars, and in more and more households, the “fur kids” get their own calendar too.

The sewing pattern LITTLE NICK is designed for dogs, with small, semi-bone-shaped little pockets.
The little bags for the treats are lined so nothing greasy seeps through. 4 appliqué templates for adding the numbers are also included.

The Santa stocking (or rather, bone) NICK doesn’t actually need that much lead time, but maybe you have several dogs or would like to give some as gifts.
NICK comes in 3 sizes, with lining of course, and includes 4 appliqué motifs.

This bag makes a great “gift wrap” — you can use it to present your Christmas gift in a particularly thoughtful and sustainable way. Later, the recipient can use the bag for light shopping or to store small items.

Only knit and purl stitches are needed, so advanced beginners can easily make the bag. The lower section consists of a simple slip-stitch pattern, which is explained in detail. The motifs are written out stitch by stitch. There is also a knitting chart if you prefer to work from a chart.

Knitting pattern “lovely things” - shopper, beach bag, gift bag...
