The weekend is knocking at the door again. Considering that Advent begins at the end of the month and St. Nicholas Day follows soon after, today there are a few ideas for you on that theme. I hope you enjoy looking at them and making them yourself. For more pictures, information, and the pattern itself, please simply click on the headings.

Warm regards from Ina

Colorful Christmas Calendar

You’re sure to find a few colorful yarns in your scrap basket. The Christmas calendar consists of 24 little bags. You can arrange them in a festive way on a tray or hang them from a hanger. The little star labels are included as a printable template.

Wrist Warmers with a Decorative Cable

This is a recommendation as a gift for young women and girls. It doesn’t take much yarn, and you’ll have a lovely St. Nicholas gift that’s sure to please. The fingers are free for using a phone :-)

Princess Dress with 4 Variations of a Sleeve Scarf

These dresses are absolutely enchanting, very light and fluffy—and they look truly beautiful when worn. They are very easy to knit. Only for the bodice should you be able to knit with a set of double-pointed needles. The perfect St. Nicholas gift for doll moms. If you like, you could work in beads. Feel free to take a look at my examples.

Crochet pattern for a blanket —the perfect project for a lovely, long weekend of crocheting. The blanket is crocheted in spiral rounds.

This cowl is quick to knit—a lovely alternative to an infinity scarf or a scarf. It’s knitted using knit and purl stitches on circular needles.

Or start knitting Christmas gifts now—this hat is knitted using only knit and purl stitches and can be made in any size.

Potholders are a gift that’s always well received. These even have gloves hidden behind a ladybug disguise. They’re very easy to make and add a welcome splash of color to any kitchen.

For toddlers with a play shop, you can crochet this little shopping bag over the weekend and fill it with lemons and carrots. You’re sure to make the child you give it to very happy.

A convertible little pinafore dress that grows with your child, featuring knitted-in hearts — it’s a real joy to knit. It fits a baby of around 6 months and will still fit a 3-year-old toddler. The little dress is knitted in one piece from the bottom up.

How about a lovely washcloth or potholder as a gift for St. Nicholas Day, Christmas, or just because? Everyone is sure to be delighted by a handmade gift crafted with so much love.

What could be nicer than getting cozy on the weekend with a fragrant cup of tea and crocheting?

Here are the ideas I have for you:

Small bag for an Advent calendar or as a thank-you gift.
Mini Bag

And here is the little caterpillar keychain—surely St. Nicholas can bring it, hmm?

All the best and have a lovely time, Babsi

Cowls make a wonderful Christmas gift, or for St. Nicholas Day too, and they knit up quickly. Most only require 100 g of yarn with a yardage of approx. 200 to 300 m.
Here is a small selection from my shop:

Passion Cowl

Eifelscoodie, knitted with 200 g

Nobel Cowl

If you’d like to start preparing for St. Nicholas Day this weekend, I have a few suggestions for you.

First, I’d like to show you this St. Nicholas boot made from photo cardstock and tracing paper. It’ll definitely look great in a child’s bedroom window.

This St. Nicholas card made from photo cardstock and construction paper is perfect for a small monetary gift!

And if you’d like to give some candy or another small gift, this boot made from photo cardstock is highly recommended.

I hope there’s something suitable for you here, and I hope you have fun recreating these crafts!

It’s time to start thinking about Christmas gifts, especially if you want to make them yourself.
That’s why my suggestions for this weekend are gifts for children:

A puppet theater with hand-crocheted puppets!
You can use leftover yarn here. Design the puppets however you like, and it will become a very personal, unique gift!
You can find even more patterns for hand puppets here!

Mouse Hunt, a fun game for the whole family!
4 kittens chase 13 mice. Whoever has caught the most mice at the end wins the game. The rules are included in the pattern.
Here, too, you can use leftover yarn for the game board and the pieces.

Violetta the Unicorn Hobby Horse is a particularly cuddly unicorn.
Everything about Violetta is soft, even the stick, because it’s a soft pool noodle. That way, no one can get hurt, and furniture and dishes stay intact, even during wild play. And if Violetta wants to come to bed for a cuddle at night, why not?
