Hourglass scarves—or scarves with an hourglass shape—are in

I found this online
but I don’t remember exactly where anymore
I don’t have the link anymore either, but I still remember what it was called
so I found it again

This is what the hourglass scarves look like.
So it’s a pattern that narrows a bit every now and then—or do you call that a pattern with cinches? Or cuffs, not on the sleeve, but right in the middle of the pattern?
Well, you can imagine it from the picture.
At first, I didn’t quite get what it was supposed to be. Somehow I thought it referred to a kind of scarf-hat that’s wide at the bottom, so that it also covers part of the shoulder, then gets narrower and fits snugly around the neck, and then widens out a bit again at the top so you can also use it as a hood.
That would also have an hourglass shape, but I don’t think that’s quite what people mean by an “hourglass scarf.”

Is this new to you, or old hat?

That design used to be around a while back, didn’t it?

I haven’t seen it either.

Is it supposed to be a trend? I haven’t found anything about it either.

Best regards
Sara

I originally discovered this on Facebook
it’s apparently a big deal in the English-speaking world, but not so much on German-language websites

the other design I mentioned further up, where the scarf doesn’t have any patterned narrowed sections but is more like a "tube," wider at the bottom, then narrower, and wider again at the top, so it can also be used as a hood
that’s the link for it
https://market.elephantjournal.com/products/0aaae07f-e8a6-4c19-9930-9e6b18291096
so, one of the links at least
Depending on your figure and the size of the scarf, you can also use it as a garment, a skirt, or a mini dress, etc. Maybe one scarf as a top and one as a skirt : )
see the pictures on the left

I think it’s really pretty
but this design variation is more something for sewing, isn’t it? If it’s knitted or crocheted, it might stretch out, maybe? What do the pros think?
the ones with the narrowed sections in the link from the very first post above are definitely something for crocheting or knitting, although an experienced seamstress or sewer could surely find a sewing solution for that too.

Well, I think the secret lies in an incredibly stretchy fabric. There’s definitely a lot of elastane in it, so it looks like a normal tube scarf and can be worn as a dress when stretched.

Crocheting or knitting something like that with yarn (I don’t know much about knitting, but I do know about yarn :-)) is probably difficult, because it can easily look stretched out.

Crocheting a large loop scarf that you can also wear as a hood, on the other hand, is no problem. I think this is more something for seamstresses ;-)

Is it considered a stretch fabric if it’s supposed to contain a lot of elastane?

Yeah, I think there’s super-stretch fabric or something like that. But I don’t know much about fabrics :-)

That looks good, though.
