Dear users, dear authors,
how are you? How’s it going? What are you up to?
What’s the weather like?
Do you have any plans for the week or crafting goals?
Is there any good food?
Tell me all about it.
I was woken up this morning by a snow shower.
Now the weather is alternating between sun peeking through the clouds and snowfall. It’s also still windy.
As for food, the macaroni is cooking right now, and my homemade seitan is marinating.
I’ll be serving it with kidney beans and some savoy cabbage.
I’ve been a little quiet lately—sorry about that. For some reason, knitting just isn’t as much fun for me right now. It was always something I did when my husband was around, and now that he’s not here anymore, I just can’t really get into knitting either. Maybe that will change again sometime.
Instead, I’m spending a lot of time outdoors (not today, though—it’s snowing), taking photos, reading a lot, talking on the phone a lot, and meeting up with friends. I’ve got to fill the void somehow. Lately, I’ve rediscovered embroidery, and I’m really enjoying it. I used to do that a lot before I met my husband. My first little embroidered picture is just taking shape. Maybe I’ll start painting again, too—we’ll see.
But there’s always good food :-) And next week I’m going to Vienna for a few days. Hopefully there will be some nice exhibitions.
it’s nice to hear from you again. I kind of missed you.
Creativity can take different forms. It doesn’t always have to be knitting that fulfills you. It’s great that you’re now active in other ways and rediscovering old hobbies.
I’m also into a variety of things and really enjoy painting. I haven’t done that in a long time because I’m enjoying knitting the most right now.
By the way… taking nature photos outdoors can be artistic, too. Nature provides us with the best subjects.
We’re having typical April weather here, but luckily it’s not as stormy as it was yesterday. So I’m using the time to do some crafts and write up a pattern in my cozy, warm living room.
Today we’re having lentil stew and leftovers from the nut-chocolate cake from the weekend.
The weather here was awful over the weekend, so we snuggled up at home and visited my sister with a cheesecake to go with our coffee… actually, it was quite cozy listening to the wind and rain against the windows.
Today there were at least a few sunny spells, so I took stock of things on the balcony—unfortunately, it’s still too early to start on the new planting. I’m really craving some color...
Other than that, I’m still working on my tunic... I’m hoping to finish it this week.
Tonight we’re having BBQ spare ribs with salad; they’re already in the oven, cooking slowly.
I also still have some of that beer that didn’t turn out right; I still want to turn it into jelly—I ran out of jelly sugar and had to buy some more first.
By the way, the beer jelly tastes really delicious; I was actually pretty skeptical about it at first... I’ve already given away the first few jars.
And Ida, I know those phases too…
I think it’s normal for interests to keep changing over time. It’s the same for me—I have phases when I like to do modeling, make paper crafts, and maybe even try something completely new—otherwise, it would all be pretty monotonous.
So, I finally managed to sort through my yarn and list some bundles for sale.
When I look at what I’ve accomplished today (7 bundles), I know exactly what I still have to do this week.
In the past, I always thought: “You might still need this”—or “You could still make something out of this”—“Oh, that’s so pretty, I’ll have to use it someday”—
BUT today, I sorted this yarn for what feels like the 100th time—and now it’s going up for sale!
You have to know when to let go! I’ve done this a few times myself and parted ways with yarn I didn’t love—yarn that couldn’t tell me what it wanted to become. Right now, I’m on the fence about this mohair yarn. I bought it—I like the colors—but I don’t know what to make with it.
Mel, how about a really cute little animal? You’ve already designed a few. Maybe you could come up with something else. Mohair is nice and cozy and goes great with amigurumi. A pillowcase would also look really nice made from mohair...
