Dolls + Amigurumi // Matching Clothing and Accessories

Dressing dolls is so much fun. And it has many advantages. The pieces can be knitted quickly, even leftover yarn gets used up here, and best of all—the eyes of every little doll mommy start to shine. A gift like this is always gladly received, especially when it has been knitted by Grandma or Mom herself. And even more so when the baby dolls in it can no longer be distinguished from a real baby.

The following clothing fits dolls (and in some cases teddies too) measuring 45–50 cm—or also preemies or small newborns. All pieces are easy to make, provided you have knitting experience.

I hope you have lots of fun choosing and knitting!

A summer clothing set—skirt, sweater, and headband

Colorful cardigan (top-down raglan) with hat

Matching leggings—quick and easy to knit

Sleeping bag—so the little darling sleeps well too

Schlüttli with hat (top-down raglan)—just like for a baby

Sweater with side button placket—just like real baby clothes

The matching pants for these two tops are available too—in two versions

Do you have colorful leftover cotton yarn? Then you can quickly knit a little summer skirt. It fits girls ages 3–4. Bell-shaped and with an elastic waistband at the top. If you have good knitting experience, it is easy to make.

Soon it will get cooler, and then a warm jacket like this with a hood is just the thing. The little ones will love the pockets, because they can collect all kinds of treasures in them. The jacket grows along a bit and fits sizes 92–104. Good knitting experience is required here.

This kind of hat keeps the neck and head nice and warm without anything slipping. Since babies and toddlers don’t like pulling things over their heads, this hat has buttons at the front. That makes it very easy to put on and take off without any fuss.

Go to the knitting pattern

To keep the legs and bottom nice and warm too, these comfortable leggings are the perfect addition. They grow along well from 1.5 to at least 3 years, and there is also enough room for a thick diaper. Easy to knit with knitting experience.

A Tour of the Garden

Yes, Petra, we’re very grateful for everything the garden gives us. The heads of lettuce are huge this year, too. The raspberry harvest is taking a lot of time. We’re picking about 300 g in the morning and another 300 g in the evening—and the amount is growing every day. We’re eating them, freezing them for ice cream, and making jam like crazy.

Photos of the pumpkins and the lettuce will follow.

August Projects and July Projects, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Crafting Group

Wow, Sandra, I’m blown away by everything you’re creating for Anton. It’s turned out uniquely beautiful and very original once again. I totally understand how you feel with all your ideas just waiting to be brought to life. Did you crochet the helmet from a pattern, or was it your own idea?

Petra, your cabinet looks great, too. I love wooden cabinets like that.

Now I’ve got two projects underway again. With my sweater, after finishing the cuff, I’m not quite sure how to proceed. And no sooner had my friend arrived than she gave me a great idea. I’ve had a specific project in mind for a while, but I only knew what it would look like when worn. I hadn’t figured out how to knit it yet. What can I say—she happened to have exactly that kind of piece with her. And now I was able to take a good, long look at it and measure it, too. Yay, a new project is born!

Now I just have one problem… I need 400 g of yarn for it. Since I don’t want to buy any yarn, I’m going to knit it using sock yarn in different colors. It’ll be a piece that looks different on the front than on the back—so pretty original. Mostly solid blue with colorful stripes on the front. It’ll be a mix of a shawl, a poncho, and a scarf. Let yourself be surprised.

That’s how wishes can come true really fast.

A Tour of the Garden

Here are some new photos. Take a look... a little glimpse of summer

This sunflower is just blooming right there in the raised bed, without ever having been sown or planted. It’s become a real beauty. It gets bigger every day.

The evening primroses are absolutely beautiful and bloom nonstop. By the way, they also taste delicious as a topping for granola or in a salad. We have so many of them in the garden that we can even harvest and dry them.

This is what we picked in half a day—almost 250 grams so far. That always leaves enough to freeze for our own fruit ice cream. Our daily harvest is slowly increasing to about a kilo a day. The pumpkins are already climbing out of the raised bed. They’re going to be huge this year, and there are plenty of them. A photo will follow shortly.

Toy Designs: August Highlights 2020

For little (and big) doll moms, doll clothes are simply the best. Especially when their little darling looks just as cute in them as a real baby. The clothing shown here fits all dolls measuring approx. 45–50 cm, including Baby Born. Even tiny newborns or preemies can fit into them, so these are “real baby clothes.”

It’s best to knit several designs right away and give them as Christmas gifts—maybe even together with a matching baby doll. Everything is easy to knit, provided you have basic knitting skills.

August Projects and July Projects, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Crafting Group

Petra, the nectarines are sweet and tart—just the way we like them. They’re a hit in our muesli along with our daily raspberries! I gave some to our neighbor as a gift, and we’ll be eating ours over the next few days. Since they’re smaller than the ones we buy at the store, we can manage that without having to preserve them. On Sunday, our friend from the north is coming back to visit for four weeks. I’m really looking forward to it. She’s also looking forward, apart from seeing us, to the many raspberries and to our garden, where we’ll be sitting as often as possible.

Ruth, the pen toppers are a great idea—they look fun. It’s so warm here right now that I don’t even need a shawl in the morning. I’d already worn the blue one several times when it was still cooler. I’ve only just discovered my love of shawls. They’re really super practical. By the way, it’s dark red, but unfortunately that didn’t come out very well in the photos.

How will the handicraft industry develop?

Many people are discovering their creativity right now, and crafts are definitely on the rise. For some, it’s a way to relax; for others, it opens up whole new worlds. The trend is also shifting away from cheap goods toward high-quality items, especially when it comes to clothing. And as a gift, something handmade is much more appreciated than something anyone can buy. From what I’ve observed, this is even true among young people.

I think this trend will only grow, especially now that most people don’t enjoy going shopping.

TV-friendly Patterns / August Highlights 2020

A cuddly-soft baby blanket knitted with love is a special joy to give—as much for the baby as for the parents. This one is very easy to knit while watching TV. You only need to pay a bit more attention to the knitted-in hearts.

Best to get started right away. Knitting experience is recommended. Then knitting it up is very easy.

In these leggings made from sock yarn, the baby will feel comfortable and be wrapped up nice and cozily warm, even for walks in fall. Even the thickest (cloth) diaper fits comfortably inside. And the leggings move easily with every motion. They fit from 4 months to at least 18 months (and longer).

Easy to knit, even while watching TV.

Well, that’s something nice about the “shawl virus.” ;-)

I wish you all a wonderful day. I’m heading out to the garden now—to knit, of course.

I already harvested our little nectarines this morning—almost 4 kilos, and all from a small, scrawny tree! And now I always have a bowl of raspberries in my cereal in the morning—so delicious! They’re really starting to come in now—over a 12-meter stretch. Soon it’ll be about 1 kilo per day.

Here’s about half of our nectarines:

And here’s a photo of my finished shawl (I just need to weave in the ends):

Welcome, Yvi! It’s great to have you here.
I think your shawl is absolutely amazing, too. A lot of work and love went into it, and it really shows.

I’ve never heard of a “virus shawl” before… can someone explain to me exactly what that means?

I’ll finish my new shawl today, which means I’ve set a personal record: a shawl finished in just 10 days. I’ll post photos of it tomorrow.

Next, I’ll be knitting a new pair of leggings for little Juna out of sock yarn. I’ve already started the gauge swatch.
