Let me tell you a little bit about myself

I’m actually a women’s clothing seamstress, but I like to knit in the evenings while watching TV—I just can’t sit around doing nothing; my hands need something to do. As a child, needlework was a real chore for me—especially knitting. I’ve knitted here and there over the course of my life, but never much and never with enthusiasm, because in my mother’s eyes, I could never do it right anyway. So I didn’t really get started until she passed away nine years ago; that’s when my oldest daughter showed me again how to knit socks. Since then, I’ve always had socks on my needles—with six grandchildren, I need to keep up. Over the past nine years, I’ve knitted quite a few jackets, ponchos, hats, scarves, gloves, and so on. I also really enjoy knitting teddy bears for the little ones in the family—or just for fun, even for the older kids.
My main focus, though, is sewing my own clothes; starting in the summer months, I sew and knit for our local children’s food bank. So I never get bored—I always find something to do.

It’s great to have you here. I really like your introduction, too. :)

My main passion is knitting. But I also crochet, and I’ve also sewn some really great things when my son was little. That was almost 40 years ago now.

I wasn’t good at needlework at all in school. I barely managed a “satisfactory.” But that just makes me love it all the more now. And I feel completely naked when I’m sitting around without my needles. ;-)

It wouldn’t be the first time someone wasn’t good at something in school but then really took off later in life....

As children, we often played during the summer holidays with the children of our holiday flat landlords
who were about the same age as us. On rainy days, knitting was the order of the day (socks for their father). The younger of the two girls hated knitting with a passion - and what did she become? A needlework teacher!!!
