My birthday and more

I was born on January 27, 1946, so I’m an old-timer among the crafters, but I’m not ready for the scrap heap yet. I’ve dabbled in many different crafts. I can embroider, knit, crochet, and do Ochi. Hardanger embroidery comes just as naturally to me as Danish embroidery. I’ve also mastered art knitting and Richelieu. Crafting is just as much a passion of mine as cooking and baking. The only problem is, I need more hands, and the day is just too short. Since I worked as a night owl in the hospital for many years, I often sit down to work at night. I still have so many patterns I want to work on, and new ones keep coming along. I think I’ll have to live to be 100 years old—and hopefully keep my wits about me and my eyesight reasonably good. Thank you for all the patterns that keep me from getting any silly ideas.

Hi Jale,

I can tell you’ve got a creative streak. I’ve never even heard of some of the crafts you listed.

It’s great to have you here, and I wish you lots of fun and a wonderful, creative time.

Warm regards, Diana

That “living to be 100” thing sounds so familiar to me.

Dear Jale,
a warm welcome from me, too! I first had to look up what “Occhi” work is. You can do that? I take my hat off to you. That’s amazing!
Have fun with all your projects
your Steffi

Dear Jale,

We all have the problem with hands and time here. ;-)
It's remarkable what you can do.
I tried tatting once too, but for me it's too much fiddling around with the little shuttles.
I've also done Richelieu embroidery before, as well as artistic knitting.
Hardanger is still missing from my list, and I'd love to learn bobbin lace sometime.

I wish you lots of fun with us and warmly welcome you. :-)

Best regards
Michaela

Dear Jale,

I’d also like to warmly welcome you here to our group. I’m not exactly a spring chicken myself—I was born in 1954—and I’d also like to live to be at least 100 years old so I can bring at least some of my ideas to life.

Wow—you really do have a wealth of knowledge and skills. There are some techniques I’ve never even heard of either. I love crocheting and knitting best, but I’m always open to learning something new.

I look forward to seeing more from you!

Warm regards
Monika

Hello and welcome to the group.
Yes, there just aren’t enough hours in the day for all the ideas you want to bring to life.

I’d love to learn how to spin properly. I’ve already taken a class, but it’s a vicious cycle. If I were spinning, I wouldn’t be able to knit. So I’ve decided to put spinning on the back burner until I’m doing even less “real work” to earn money.

Other than that, I’ve also made two Hardanger tablecloths, which is another wonderful craft. Crafting with the kids, silk painting, and much more back in the day. It really adds up when you look back.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Ooohhh, I didn’t learn tatting in school either. Born in 1971. It was a hobby of the needlework teacher. Three years ago, I ordered another shuttle and copied a pattern from an old book.
But I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did back then.
