Dear users, dear authors,
there weren’t any holidays this time to shorten the week, but now the long week is finally over, and it’s the weekend. :-)
What’s going on? What are your plans?
Let me know.
I’m sitting here right now watching the storm while I wait for my daughter, who said she’d be coming over for the weekend. Hopefully she’s not out there right now!
We had guests over late into the night… I didn’t fall asleep until after 3 a.m., and today I had to be at the office by 8.
I’ll probably spend the day on the couch.
Let’s see if my crochet hook gets to come along too.
Tomorrow night we’re going to the movies to see Jurassic World—I’m really looking forward to it!
The day after tomorrow we’re going out to eat with the family because it was my grandpa’s birthday recently.
(I just realized… I’m always writing here in the forum that I’m going out to eat. That’s actually an exception right now—we really enjoy cooking at home and are pretty good at it, too, as I’m always told ;))
Tonight I’m going to cook some delicious pan-fried potatoes and sild (from Denmark). It’s clouding over here right now, so maybe I won’t need to water the plants today—and we might finally get some much-needed rain.
Tomorrow I’m going on a long bike ride to a flea market—can’t wait :-) I love flea markets. In the evening, we’ll head to our favorite Greek restaurant, and Sunday is, as always, a family day through and through.
Of course, I’ll be picking up my crochet hook again—I only do that in the evenings when the weather’s like this.
I had a physics test yesterday and have to study for a Latin exam this weekend. But I also finished a triangle shawl and finally got my lace shawl under control. Other than that, it’s cool and a bit rainy here, which works out well for studying over the weekend.
When I came home yesterday from a training course, I noticed that the storm had knocked over two of our little rose bushes and snapped off a zucchini flower. Today the sun is shining again, and we’re going to try to prop one of the bushes back up. The gardener will have to come for the other one.
The roses have never bloomed so profusely—we were so happy about it.
As for handicrafts, not much will get done: the bean plants are barely visible anymore under the carpet of weeds…
As for me, I’m planning to organize and tidy up my supplies. The garden is always crying out for help—the work never ends there.
I’m also knitting wrist warmers out of super-soft wool right now. I’m on my fourth pair. That might sound a little odd for this time of year, but I’m involved in a group that sews, crochets, and knits for various places throughout Germany. These include hospices, palliative care units, oncology wards, hospitals, and Ronald McDonald Houses. People who are terminally ill often feel very cold, even in the summer. I know this from my own family experience. Most of the time, though, I donate yarn (I ALWAYS buy way too much of it). It goes to other members who work their magic with it. But finished items that came out of writing patterns, or never made it into a pattern, also go there.
Bottom line: I’m decluttering, doing something meaningful with my stuff, and easing my conscience a little bit.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
Stay healthy.
