The tulle skirt delivers the most surprising result. Compared to January 2014, search volume this year is 35 percent higher. Most users don’t seem to want to buy the garment, but are instead looking for patterns to sew it themselves.

The quote above comes from the link above
so I thought I shouldn’t keep it from you
is it really true that people are looking for tulle skirt patterns? Or not at all?
A tulle skirt like that is definitely great for summer, since it’s airy and all
and it can’t be that hard to sew, right?
well, if that’s really the trend, then maybe people will buy them, and it would be great if crazypatterns had something to offer there too
I’m sure you could/would make your very own tulle skirt creations out of it :)
I only sew by hand—I don’t get along with sewing machines. Yeah, they’re making a comeback... I’d already noticed that. Thanks for passing on the info... I missed that since I don’t sew that way. Thanks
Well, I just do this as a hobby—keeping an eye on trends to see how they could be adapted in the DIY world. I kind of enjoy it, and I’m really glad you like it.
I actually found something else that fits this theme.
Origami skirts have apparently been in style for quite a while now—or rather, it started small and is becoming more and more popular. These are those skirts with the jagged edges at the bottom, and apparently there are T-shirts and sweaters in that style too.
Take a look here
The article is from 2013, but these days you see the skirts more often in fashion magazines and women’s magazines.

Some of them are really well done, in my opinion, even though I don’t know anything about sewing.
I’m not really sure if this is something that would actually suit the DIY world, but I’ll post it here anyway—maybe one or two people will like it.
But the downside is that once the trend is over, wearing these skirts makes you stand out as old-fashioned; despite the elegance of some pieces, they don’t really have what it takes to become classics.
But they’re definitely great for summer.
They look cool.... I think it was H&M or C&A—they had something like that on offer too..... If I had the figure for it, that would be a trend for me :)
But I don’t really like showing that much skin, and skirts aren’t really my thing either, but I think you could definitely make pants like that too... Hmm, maybe I’ll crochet myself a pair of pants in that style :)
Hi again!
I think you could also make these origami skirts longer—it doesn’t necessarily have to be a mini skirt.
I think it could look good just above ankle length, so that you can still see the ankles a little, because this season is all about showing off the ankles with 7/8 pants and stuff like that. If you pair that with some pretty shoes and a nice top, you’ll be all set for a night out. :)
A pair of pants that hit mid-calf, with a zigzag pattern and a slightly looser fit, made from a summery fabric—like linen or something—would definitely look great. I think you always have to iron linen because it wrinkles so easily, but you know what they say—linen wrinkles with class ; ) I don’t really like ironing. ; )
It would probably look good crocheted, too. Once you’ve made it, will you upload a photo?
Do you already have a pattern idea in mind? What yarn do you plan to use?
Checking out trends—that’s kind of a new hobby of mine; I never really got into it before. I mean, I like looking at them, but I don’t really want to wear most of them. I have my own style, which is more timeless. I tend to look at trends from a detached, amused perspective, because I sometimes find it a bit odd that a trend appears in a women’s magazine and suddenly everyone’s walking around dressed like that. I feel like individuality sometimes gets lost in the process. But then you just have to pick the trend you like and combine it in a way that creates something unique. Style guides always say you should wear only one trendy piece at a time and pair it with classics. That way, it makes for a nice outfit and doesn’t look too much like an overstyled fashion victim. But I think teenagers are allowed to mix and match several trendy pieces at once—after all, when it comes to fashion, they live in a different world.
Thanks for the compliment on my posts—I sometimes worry that I’m overwhelming the forum here with all my posts. I love that I keep getting responses to my ideas and threads and stuff. And I’m happy to return the compliment to you—I enjoy reading your posts, and I think you’re very helpful, especially to newcomers and beginners. That’s great.
Hi... You always write so much.... it’s always a bit of a hassle on a tablet. I don’t have a specific pattern or type of yarn in mind yet ... but it’ll probably be cotton. I also have some simple capri pants that I could perhaps spruce up a bit at the hems with some crochet.
Of course I’ll show you a photo then.....
I always try to help... whether you’re a beginner or a pro. Unfortunately, there often just isn’t enough time for everything and everyone, because I have two small children who come first
Hi, I had no idea those were called origami skirts. I think they’re totally cool—they just look like they’re wrapped around like that. I really like them, and if you ever come across a pattern for them, muetzekatze—definitely send it my way. Exactly my kind of thing.
For me, it’s actually the other way around, Nicole—I absolutely love wearing skirts, whether it’s summer or winter :-D
Tulle skirts, probably not so much. I think those are more for little ballerinas, right?
