Upcycling nail polish bottles

hello everyone
I'm not entirely sure whether this belongs here. but I'll give it a try; maybe you'll like the idea I found while browsing. Upcycling is still very much on trend, after all.
Upcycling nail polish bottles
What I like is that you can still make something pretty out of the empty bottles, and if you put several of them on a tray, it looks really great. As the article also says, just one of them somehow looks tiny, but as a group on a pretty tray with nice flowers in them, it really makes an impression.

What I'm wondering, though, is: don't the little bottles tip over easily? Especially if the flowers are a bit taller? The base of a little mini bottle like that isn't very big, and then you'd have flower water everywhere.
and I mean, if you clean out the nail polish residue with nail polish remover and afterward just go over it with a little dish soap and water, won't there still be residue inside that ruins the flowers?
does anyone maybe know about this? or do you just have to rinse them several times until everything is out?
Also, I keep thinking the bottles have that threading at the top, too, and it somehow looks odd if a mini flower vase has threading like that.
The tip about only using bottles where you can peel off the print along with the plastic film is a good one. Because anything else, if you can't peel it off with the film, would be kind of silly too. well, it just looks odd, unless it was some really special nail polish with a really special print, then of course it wouldn't look silly, it would look good. That would probably be a kind of statement, and statements are totally in, at least in fashion.

so, I think this could be a pretty idea that's also quite practical for everyday use, because pretty much everyone has a nail polish bottle standing around somewhere. And you can find pretty little flowers for it too, even if it's just a daisy. and you don't even have to crochet around it or anything to make it look good, but maybe you could do that too, kind of "dress" the bottle in something the size of an egg cup or egg cozy.
-->You could reuse all the egg cozies or egg cups from Easter right away. Then they wouldn't always have to wait until Easter, or until a cozy Sunday breakfast, before they can be used again. That's actually a nice idea, I think. With a little imagination, you could surely make something out of it and create really pretty decor too. Does anyone have any more nice ideas for this?
Although, if they get wet when something spills, that probably wouldn't look nice either. As soon as they're wet, the egg cozies might warp, or if the yarn isn't that high quality, the color might run or something. Well, you'd just have to try it out.

just tell me what you think of it and whether you'd like to try it, and whether maybe you've tried it or something similar. unfortunately I don't have an empty nail polish bottle, and I don't really want to pour one out just for this.
well, anyway, tell me what you think : )

Hey there... I'm ready for bed, so just a quick reply...

Simply cool..... Back when I used to paint more, I stored leftover paints that I had mixed in these little bottles.

But the vase idea is great too.... and you can get them really clean. I cleaned mine back then too :-)   using pretty much the same method

Best, Nicole

Hi, you two,
I really like this idea. I’m going to give it a try.
We could collect even more of these quick and easy upcycling tips.
What do you all think?

Sunny greetings
Sidney

Nice that you guys like the thread : )
I read somewhere that it’s a good idea to keep bobby pins—those little hair clips—in empty Tic Tac containers with the flip-top lid. That way, they don’t end up scattered all over the place, and you always have them on hand. But if they get tangled up, you’ve got a problem and have to take the whole lid off instead of using the opening.
If you want, you can of course remove the labels from the containers and paint them in bright colors or something.
Apparently, there are even people who keep their hair ties on doorknobs. ; )
That’s not really upcycling, but it prevents you from constantly having to buy new hair ties because they don’t keep getting lost. In that sense, you’re also doing something for the environment by not having to buy new ones all the time.

The tip itself isn’t bad, but I think it might be difficult to get the bobby pins back out of the relatively small opening of the tin. I think a small tin with a lid that you can remove in one go—a sort of mini cookie tin, so to speak—would be more practical.
Sunny wishes

@Sidney,
unfortunately, you’re right about the tight cap. I think I’ll have to try that out to see if they really get that tangled up. I just read the tip online, like so many things you come across there : )
But I don’t normally use any of those pins anyway—just hair ties.
Still, I like the idea of the little cookie tin : )

I thought upcycling only ever resulted in pencil holders, but now there are vases and hair clip holders too. ;-)
