However, what we can help you with here is a GENERAL translation of typical terms, such as the individual stitches:
sc = single crochet = single crochet
dc = double crochet = double crochet
sl = slip stitch = slip stitch
ch = chain (stitch) = chain stitch
etc.
Maybe you have some other terms or abbreviations we can help you with.
I just don't understand what this sentence means: "Chain 6, join to form a ring. Chain 1 and sc around, change to white in the last sc, join to the first sc of the round."
Chain = chain stitch, so crochet 6 chain stitches, then join them to form a ring.
Then another chain stitch (chain 1), sc = single crochet. Work single crochets all the way around, switching to white at the last stitch. I hope it says somewhere how many single crochets there should be in the round.
Unfortunately, it doesn't say, but maybe this gives more context:
Chain 1, sc in same stitch as joining. *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc* repeat from *to* around to beginning, join to first sc with slip stitch.
Chain1, sc in same sc as joining. *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc* repeat from *to* around. F/O and secure tail, weave in end.
when working the leg, you may have an odd stitch left over in a round
1 ch, sc in the same ch you just made, 2 sc in the next st (i.e. increase), sc in the next sc. Then continue as described until all sts of the previous round have been worked, always working 2 sts into one st and then 1 st into the next (every 2nd st is increased). Join with a slip stitch to close the round.
1 ch, again sc in the same ch you just made, and repeat everything as I described above.
Fasten off = cut the yarn and pull it through the stitch to form a knot; weave in the ends.
But there are translation tables available through search engines for stuff like that. :-)
That part about ch and then sc straight into the ch was nonsense — that doesn’t work, just try it. It’s really annoying that it doesn’t say how many stitches are supposed to go into the ch ring. I’ve just crocheted 6 stitches into the ring, but that’s too few; if you finish the round like that, you get a bulge.
Is there perhaps a crochet chart to go with the text that you could use to work it out?
Yeah, that’s really annoying, especially since it’s only like that in this part—for the other steps, I was able to figure it out on my own and it worked out fine. It’s just different here. We’ll see—maybe I’ll just adjust it so it fits. Thanks, Anja
