Hello, fellow crocheters.
I’m having trouble with the “stability” of some crochet figures. I have a cow, a horse, and various dolls that are actually supposed to stand, but unfortunately they keep falling over because the bodies and legs are made separately and only sewn together. Does anyone have a brilliant idea for how I can get my figures to stand?? (Chenille wire doesn’t work.)
Thanks, Eva
Place something heavy, like small buttons or cent coins, in the soles of their feet, stuff the legs very tightly, and after sewing on each leg, double-check the position of the other legs to make sure they’re standing correctly.
Placing a glass marble in the bottom of the feet also helps.
Washers from the hardware store are also available in larger diameters and improve stability.
Also—don’t laugh—instead of wire, you can use “Hair Sticks for elastic spiral curls.” They’re made of foam, so they’re washable and child-safe. Best regards
There are hair sticks at a well-known drugstore chain ;). The long ones in pink with white end caps have wire inside.
There are some made entirely of foam, which you can shorten and shape as desired.
