Potholders are always great for using up leftovers. 40 m of cotton is enough for one of these.

You can find the pattern right here.

The pattern is very easy. It’s a knitting pattern that’s also suitable for beginners. Anyone who can knit and purl stitches can knit a potholder like this.

Small scraps of sock yarn can be wonderfully turned into little bags.

The pattern can be found here.

Knitted in colorful leftovers, they’re a lot of fun and are finished in no time. The pattern is simple—you should be able to knit in the round.

If you like things a bit more complicated, you might even want to take on a double-knit pot holder. For this, you’ll need cotton leftovers in two different colors (approx. 45 m each). The clever thing about this technique is that the colors are exactly mirrored on the opposite sides. This pot holder has hearts knitted into it.

Here is the pattern.

Crochet patterns for leftover yarn

Hippie Doorstop

Using thick leftover yarn, or simply holding thinner yarn double, you can easily crochet this practical helper for yourself.
With a heavy filling it keeps your doors secure; filled only with stuffing, it can also become a cuddly toy.

Get the pattern here with one click

Materials needed:
  • Thick leftover yarn or thin yarn held double
  • Crochet hook size 6
  • for the small parts I used sizes 2 and 3.5
  • 2 buttons
  • stuffing
  • something for the heavy filling (cat litter, bird sand, rice, or similar)
  • a freezer bag for the filling (so it doesn’t trickle out)
  • scissors and sewing needle
I crocheted Hippie from Bellalana Soft Maxx with hook size 6.
The pattern is also suitable for beginners who know the crochet basics; it is written without abbreviations.

The following skills should be familiar:
  • magic ring
  • chain stitch
  • slip stitch
  • single crochet stitches
  • half double crochet
  • increasing and decreasing stitches
With this pattern, leftover yarn becomes an affordable, practical helper that also serves as a decorative item.

So get the doorstop for every situation.

If you still have a few bits of leftover yarn in your knitting basket, then this is exactly the right project for you.
You can really let your creativity shine here. Either make a shawl
with colorful stripes, or work the garter-stitch pieces
each in a different color.

Knit stitches, purl stitches, increases, knitting 2 stitches together
and wrap stitches (there is a video link for this in the
pattern where this technique is explained).

What you need for knitting:

Yarn:
Main color: Merino Extrafine by Fischer Wolle in gray (100% merino) length 155 meters / 50 g, 3 balls. Leftover yarn in various colors.
Knitting needles:
No. 4 mm circular knitting needles.
Other:
Possibly a row counter, yarn needle.Gauge: 20 stitches and 23 rows over 10 cm in garter stitch with size 4 mm needles, after washing.

Small colorful pumpkins, quickly crocheted from cotton yarn, 50 g with approx. 120 m or more yardage (e.g. Catania by Schachenmayr), suitable for crochet hook size no. 2 - 3. I
recommend hook size 2.5 for crocheting. Leftover yarn is perfect
for the little pumpkins, creating a basket full of colorful pumpkins.

If thicker yarn is used along with a correspondingly larger hook size, this pattern can also be used without
any conversions needing to be made.
The pumpkins will simply turn out larger.

The little pumpkin has a diameter of 13–14 cm and is approx. 3–4 cm tall without the small stems. The length of the stems
is 4 cm (long stem) and 3 cm (small stem).

Here is the "Pumpkin Crochet Pattern".
Have fun crocheting, Ines

Do you have leftover yarn and no idea what to do with it? The Colorful Kangaroos look absolutely fantastic with any yarn!

To crochet the kangaroos, you don’t need much at all:

-A matching crochet hook
-A little stuffing or similar
-A key ring / carabiner
-Safety eyes (if desired)

All you need to know are chain stitches and single crochet. So the pattern is also suitable for beginners.

Do you also have lots of leftover yarn?
A great way to crochet up some of it is Pino the Bird of Paradise
He is a totally clumsy, flightless leftover-yarn eater and has devoured so much leftover yarn that he has become round as a ball.

click here to get to Pino

Once finished, Pino will be approx. 32 cm tall (when using the stated hook size and yarn weight). You will receive a detailed 20-page pattern with lots of photos to follow along.

Also suitable for ambitious beginners

You will also need:
  • approx. 200 g leftover yarn (needle size 3 - 4) in various colors
  • crochet hook size 4.5
  • yarn needle, darning needle
  • stuffing
  • 2 safety eyes, size 12 mm

Great for large amounts of leftover yarn:
You can often find a weaving workshop nearby where you can weave rugs, runners, or bench cushions.

I’ve also knitted dolls from my sorted scraps and made pants and dresses for the little ones from small scraps.
