Every first-grader needs a bookmark—after all, you need to be able to find the right place in your reading book. Here’s one I can offer.

It’s knitted from a small scrap of cotton and is finished in a flash. A knitting chart helps with the pattern.

And how about a little pouch for erasers, pencil sharpeners, and the like?

Take a look.

These little pouches also knit up in a flash and are very easy. All you need is some leftover sock yarn.

How about a fun bag charm as a little extra for the school backpack?
Polly and Paule are great companions for the first days of school.

The pattern is described in detail and richly illustrated, so even beginners can achieve great results. The bag charms measure about 14 cm (when using the specified yarn weight and hook size).

You should be familiar with crocheting single crochet, increases and decreases, as well as chain stitches and slip stitches.

Materials needed:
  • Crocheted with cotton yarn, hook size 3–3 1/2, yardage 170 m/50 g in various colors (a great way to use up leftover yarn)
  • Crochet hook size 2.5
  • Weaving needle, darning needle
  • Embroidery floss in various colors
  • 4 small safety eyes, size 6 mm
  • 2 small buttons
  • Stuffing, 2 keychain rings

Dachshund Wasti goes to school with your child every day and keeps their writing supplies organized. Packing their school bag is so much more fun this way! You can crochet this funny pencil case in a single color or with colorful stripes. And if you don’t know a schoolchild who could use Wasti, just crochet him for yourself and your crochet hooks! Download the pattern here!

Small School Cone

The small school cone is 18 cm tall, opens at the top, and can be filled. It’s perfect for holding cash gifts or a few sweets, or—when filled with cotton wool—it can simply be used as a bag charm, gift tag, or table decoration. All you need is a bit of leftover yarn, whether cotton or acrylic. The pattern is 7 pages long and explains everything in detail.

Pencil Case to Go

Pencil Case to Go. With this practical little pouch, you’ll always have everything with you. Put the colored pencils into the pouch and wrap it around the coloring book - and you’re ready for a
restaurant visit.
Quickly grab the ring binder for school, university, or the office, the
pencil case is already in place and you have everything with you - no
annoying carrying things separately, no searching.
Or do you like drawing outdoors? Put all your drawing supplies in the
pouch, slip it over your sketchpad and you’re ready to go. The pattern is beginner-friendly. Everything is explained over 7 pages (with pictures), from crocheting to sewing. If sewing isn’t your thing, you can simply use fabric glue instead.

Standing Pencil Case

Get the pattern for this beautiful case. A stylish pouch for your pens, glasses, or crochet hooks. The pattern is 8 pages long, and all stitch patterns are explained in words. This is a great way to use up your leftover cotton yarn. You’ll need a little
practice. But don’t be afraid of
sewing in the zipper—it’ll stay in place with just a few stitches, or you can
simply glue it in with fabric glue. The same goes for
the lining; it’s easy to glue in place.
