Crochet Patterns for Leftover Yarn

Ivy Vine

You can easily conjure up this evergreen from green leftover yarn; in different sizes and shades of green, it also looks deceptively real as scatter decoration.

As a vine

It is crocheted with
  • magic ring
  • chain stitches and slip stitches
  • single crochet stitches
  • double crochet and treble crochet stitches
If you are familiar with working these stitches, beginners should also be able to manage the pattern.
The pattern is written without abbreviations, and every step is supported with photos.

These baby booties are wonderful to knit from leftover yarn, since only the
main color needs a little more; the stripes can be as colorful as you like.

They are knitted with size 3 double-pointed needles; if you want them to be larger,
simply use yarn one weight thicker and size 3.5–4 needles!

The required knitting skills are:

> casting on stitches with a set of double-pointed needles
> knit stitches
> purl stitches
> increasing stitches
> decreasing stitches
> bind off

Crochet Pattern Möbius Cowl 1-2-3-4

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Why not use leftover yarn for this? It would surely look pretty in colorful yarn too and  wonderfully jazzes up sweaters and shirts.

This cowl is crocheted from approx. 60 g of a merino yarn with a yardage of 50 g – 160 m and hook size 3 – 4 (here with a 3.5 mm crochet hook) and is quickly finished in an afternoon. Beginners should allow themselves a little more crochet time. Other yarns with a suitable hook size can also be used. In my opinion, however, the pattern shows up better in finer yarns.

The Möbius technique in crochet is much easier than in knitting.

For the illustrated PDF pattern you only need basic crochet skills (chain stitches, single crochet, half double crochet, slip stitch). Links with tips for learning to crochet are included.

Not just for Christmas. With other leftover yarn, it makes a pretty scattered flower decoration for the whole year:
Crochet Pattern Christmas Decoration / Star / Flower

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

One flower consists of two parts, each of which can also be used separately. Finished size with the yarn listed below: approx. 7 cm in diameter.

The PDF pattern is richly illustrated.

All you need is a yarn remnant of approx. 10 g of a metallic yarn, e.g. used here: Nora Madeira, 25 g – 100 m, 80% viscose, 20% metallized polyester, for crochet hook size 2.5 - 3.0.
However, any yarn you like can also be used with a matching crochet hook size. The size of the finished piece will then change according to the yarn. You will also need a size 2.5 crochet hook, scissors, and a yarn needle.

These crochet skills are required:
chain stitches, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, slip stitches, crocheting in rows, and crocheting in rounds. The pattern includes link tips for crochet techniques.

This little airplane is super easy to crochet and works up very quickly! You’ll see—it’s a lot of fun! Crochet one and give it away as a bag charm or keychain. Or crochet several at once, and you can make a colorful mobile out of them.
You can use any leftover yarn you like—the main thing is that it’s nice and colorful!

You’ll need leftover cotton yarn in two different colors for these pot holders made using the double-knit technique—about 45m of each color.

You can read more about it here.

The pot holders feature knitted-in hearts (shown in a knitting chart), and what makes this technique special is that the colors are simply mirrored on the opposite side. It looks great!

A bit of leftover sock yarn (approx. 90 m) is enough for these pretty wrist warmers, which are knitted in an interesting openwork pattern.

Here is the pattern.

They remind me a bit of Swiss cheese :-)

Angel Mouse "Mini" is always there as a little guardian angel.

Using the specified materials, Angel Mouse "Mini" measures 15 cm tall when standing and is ideal for using up leftover yarn.
The pattern includes detailed photos that make it easier to recreate.

To make it, in addition to leftover yarn, safety eyes in 6 mm size are required. Alternatively, the eyes can of course also be embroidered on or replaced with beads.

Here is the pattern:
