Every year, around “Indian summer,” Oktoberfest / Wies’n season is just around the corner—and there’s traditional costume fashion for our littlest ones, too:

A little translation from Bavarian:
Oans glatt = knit 1 stitch; oans Gnädlt = purl 1 stitch (comes from the way it looks, like a dumpling). But don’t worry. The knitting pattern is written in standard German—grin..
The pattern is worked out in detail for size 70, with adjustment options for sizes 50 to 104.
Basic knitting techniques are used, plus cabling, knitting stitches together, and increasing stitches from the strand between stitches—everything is explained with pictures. Difficulty level: intermediate.
