Crochet Pattern: Triangle Shawl “COLOR PLAY” – Also for Beginners

(Click the image to purchase/download)

Cheerfully colorful—in your choice of colors (you can even use up leftover yarn)—this triangle shawl can be quickly crocheted in just a few evenings—very relaxing… and a wonderful gift for all kinds of occasions.

These basic crochet skills are enough:
chain stitches, single crochet, and slip stitches (all explained with illustrations)

Materials:
Basically, you can use any yarn of your choice with the appropriate hook size, especially suitable for thin yarns, lace yarns, and gradient yarns (e.g. Bobbel).

For the size crocheted here, I used: a total of approx. 350 g of Limone/Catania cotton yarn, 100% cotton, 50 g – 125 m, any color choice; here, 8 colors (partly using up leftover yarn); according to the label, for hook sizes 2.5 – 3.5; used here: 3.5 crochet hook. We also need: a yarn needle for weaving in ends, scissors. A stitch marker is helpful for beginners, plus pins for blocking.

This stole looks especially beautiful in yarns with long color gradients. It is knitted in brioche stitch—that makes it wonderfully soft and cozy—and is a very relaxing knitting project.

You can read more about it here.

This scarf is very well suited for sock yarns with color gradients. It is knitted diagonally, which gives it a clever effect, starts and ends with just a few stitches, and can be knitted in any width. You can also use the pattern to knit a wider shawl.

Summer Scarf: Desert Ship

Do you have leftover Bobbel yarn that isn’t enough for a new project? With scraps in at least three colors and about 150g, you can knit this great summer scarf. The short rows give it a unique look.

Even beginners can knit really beautiful shawls with gradient yarn. And anyone who hates having to weave in ends when knitting with multiple colors will breathe a sigh of relief with this yarn.

Here are two patterns for you that are also suitable for beginners.

1. Magnolia

This shawl is knitted from the top down in knit stitch and stands out thanks to its simplicity and the yarn’s color gradient. Beginners will also learn a neat edge finish here.

Materials:

  • 1,100 meters of gradient yarn, 4-ply
  • 1 circular needle, size 4
  • 1 needle to weave in ends
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 4 stitch markers, if you want to mark the spots for the increases.

>>> Click here for the pattern

2. Aruba

This shawl is also knitted from the top down. The holes are created by yarn overs and stitches knitted together. The pattern consists of two rows and makes for relaxed knitting. What makes this shawl special is that it looks great from both sides.

Materials:

  • 1,000 meters of gradient yarn, 3-ply (200 gr.)
  • 1 circular needle, size 2.75
  • 1 needle to weave in ends
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 4 stitch markers, if you want to mark the spots for the increases.

>>> The pattern for the Aruba shawl is available here:

In both patterns, I’ve also included a small selection of online suppliers of gradient yarn that I’ve used before.

Have fun knitting, and if you have any questions, I’m happy to help

Best regards

Christa

Cotton quality + bright colors + sophisticated pattern = summer sweater

This short-sleeved summer sweater—made with cool cotton—is truly one of a kind with its deep V-neck.

The pattern makes the gradient yarn stand out even more and complements the kimono cut!

If you want the combo set, you save a full EUR 1.00—you’ll find the package, consisting of a hat and summer sweater, in our shop!

This pattern is designed for sizes 36/38 and 40/42.
However, the included template and the gauge make it possible to make any size!

And here’s the pattern and more details...

This knitted scarf is made from sock yarn with somewhat shorter color runs, and because of its holes I’ve nicknamed it “Emmentaler.”

You can find the pattern here.

The holes are created in an interesting way, which is explained in a tutorial with pictures. One 100g skein of sock yarn is more than enough.
