Animal patterns: flying animals

Dear users, dear designers,
here in this thread there is room for all animals that can fly or at least look like they can.
Penguins and ostriches, for example, usually do not fly, but they also have wings.
Birds, owls, of course, as well as many dinos, bats, flies, insects, etc. are naturally the classics among flying animals.
Now make animals with wings by hand.

Pieps is a little bird who likes to sit on his perch and chirp merrily
to himself.

These two chubby little guys look funny and make
great decorations.

They’re crocheted with Schachenmayr Bravo, and basic crochet
skills are all you need.

Caterpillars can fly too, namely down from a leaf or bush to the ground.

You only need leftover yarn, depending on the length of the caterpillar. Mine is 75 cm long. You knit it with two needles, always in stockinette stitch. Varied and also fun to knit. 
You need 2 needles or double-pointed needles for needle size 2.5–3.0.
1 yarn needle and an appliqué, alternatively felt in black or another color.

The hen and the rooster can only flutter around in the air for a short while, but they’re masters at keeping eggs warm! Crochet a whole chicken coop full of them, and you’ll always have warm eggs for breakfast and a pretty table decoration. They’re also very popular as small gifts for brunch.

It doesn't always have to be just cute.....

Most people are wary of hornets, and so am I, especially when they look this mean. The hornet is a perfect gift for men, because as everyone knows, they love that "mean look" and can easily put this hornet in their car.

But the hornet can also become the hit of the party if you sew it onto a pair of underpants and let the man make his entrance with it, just as he wishes ;)

Difficulty level: very easy

What you need:
Gründl Happy yarn (100 g = 250 m yardage):

• Yellow approx. 60 g
• Black approx. 20 g
• Red approx. 10-15 g
• White approx. 10 g
  
• Some white fabric, plus red and black Edding markers for the mouth
• Glue
• Crochet hook: 3.5, yarn needle and scissors, and stuffing material

What you need to know:

chain stitches, single crochet, magic ring, half double crochet, increasing and decreasing stitches

Bald eagles are not only beautiful and large animals in nature, but also huge when crocheted if you make them with this pattern. This eagle measures 80 cm from head to tail tip and has a wingspan of 2.20 meters when the wings are fully spread out. 

The handmade feathers made from gradient yarn make it look especially realistic.

To recreate this majestic animal, you need quite a lot of material, patience, and experience. 

Difficulty level: Difficult (you should already have good crochet skills)

What you need: 

Supplies: 

•      Wrapping wire for chain-link fences approx. 12 meters
  
•      Regular craft wire 5x 
  
•      Thin brown craft wire from Rayer 1x
  
•      Two yellow eyes approx. 17 mm
•      Some wide elastic band
•      Scissors,  lots of glue, small brush, 5-6 x hairspray and/or spray starch

•      A whole lot of stuffing (coarse pillow stuffing for the body + regular stuffing)

I’d describe what butterflies do in the air as fluttering rather than flying, but since they have wings, they absolutely have to be mentioned in this thread :-).

The window display featuring the dancing butterfly couple is made from photo cardstock and tracing paper; each butterfly measures approximately 37 x 36 cm. Even beginners with some crafting experience and patience can easily recreate these butterflies.

Can "wool chickens" fly? They do have wings, but whether that works?

They are very easy to knit, and it's a lot of fun,

you'll need smooth and fluffy yarn as well as a set of double-pointed needles

I’m Emil. I actually wanted to be a duck. But life as a raven isn’t so bad either.
I spend more time sitting around on roofs than flying. That’s because I can get a better look onto the balconies to see whether someone has put out something to eat. For a hazelnut like that, I’ll come up with quite a few ideas...but that’s another story.

Single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet, two eyes and stuffing. Use the yarn you have at home. From 70 g if you crochet with acrylic. A little more with cotton. 
It’s best to get started right away, then I can lounge comfortably with you on the couch sometime too :-)

Trudi is a lovable duck who is simply looking for a nice home. 

Trudi is approx. 25–30 cm tall, depending on the yarn weight used. Single crochet, increases and decreases—a project that even ambitious beginners will enjoy. You will need approx. 130 g cotton yarn; here I used organic cotton from Lana Grossa, a size 3 crochet hook, stuffing, a blunt needle, and, if you like, two teddy bear eyes, or you can simply embroider the eyes. Of course, Trudi can be crocheted with any yarn/wool you like. This will only change the size and the amount of material needed. 

For little ones and grown-ups... Trudi is simply fun :-)

Summer is on its way!!! The first 3 rays of sunshine and beetle fever breaks out ;-) Konrad is approx. 15 to 17 cm tall if you have 40 g of yarn and a size 3 hook. But he can also be crocheted with different yarn weights and hooks. Konrad is quick to make and a great start to spring. He is crocheted with single crochet stitches and is also well suited for beginners. Use up leftover yarn and simply crochet your own beetle.

A beetle you just have to love :-)
