There are wonderful
faux fur pompoms, as you can see :-)
.. looks like a cable pattern, but it isn’t one.
You don’t need a cable needle for this :-).
Hats don’t necessarily have to be knitted in the round; below I have described
both hat-knitting methods,
both in the round and in rows .
Difficulty level: easy to medium for beginners, easy for experienced knitters.
The
pattern is illustrated, but it does require
basic knitting knowledge. Links and tips for learning to knit and crochet are available on my
website.
By the way, the pattern
can easily be adapted to any head size by knitting fewer or more stitches in the purl-knitted section.
The hat made with this material is a true lightweight:
100 g (= 2 balls of 50 g each) Rico Creative Melange Chunky, 53% virgin wool, 47% acrylic, 50 g = 90 m yardage, gauge according to the label: 14 stitches x 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm, according to the label: knitting needle 6 - 7, used here: circular knitting
needle size 6.0
a) if knitted in the round: with a cable length of 40 cm,
a 60 cm cable length pulls a bit at the beginning of knitting, but can also be used;
stitch marker
b) if knitted in rows, the cable length doesn’t matter; it could then also be knitted with
straight knitting needles;
yarn needle for weaving in ends, measuring tape, scissors.
