Hi everyone
I made a little flower last week, and since—for once—I didn’t rip it out, I thought I’d upload a picture of it.
The pattern was in this video here:
Crochet Rose Tutorial Crochet Pattern

It actually went pretty quickly; it took me about an hour.
I didn’t have any red yarn on hand, so I used gray and salmon-colored yarn.
It looks a bit yellowish in the photo, but I think I overexposed it.
I took the photo on a lined notepad for size comparison.
Sewing it together was a bit tricky—for me, it didn’t drape into such nice folds and curves as shown in the video. But thanks to the crochet technique, twisting it together isn’t actually all that difficult. The crochet technique itself lays the groundwork for twisting it together. With a little more practice, you’ll surely get the hang of it.
Plus, the cat has been using the flower as a pillow in the meantime. :)
But I think I’ll just crochet this rose again and see if it goes better. The top and middle petals, in particular, were a bit stubborn when it came to twisting them together. I sewed them together from the bottom using the leftover yarn. I didn’t have a darning needle on hand, so I used my crochet hook instead. It was a bit fiddly, but doable.
My rose is just for me—I won’t be sewing it onto anything, especially because of the somewhat adventurous color combination. But if I make this again soon, with more sensible colors, I can definitely see myself actually sewing this rose on as a decoration. I’m not sure exactly where yet.
This video is definitely suitable for beginners. However, there’s absolutely no getting around counting stitches. You’ll mainly need chain stitches and double crochet. The video explains exactly how to do that clearly. I’d definitely recommend it for (almost) beginners. I’ll definitely make another rose—or maybe even several of them.
