I found my new dream curtain to crochet on Facebook / Pinterest. The difficulty level should be manageable even for me, and it looks like you could use leftover yarn for it. Since that’s often a deciding factor for some of you here, I’m starting a separate thread about the flower curtain.

You can find the detailed crochet pattern here: http://onceuponapinkmoon.blogspot.de/2013/05/flower-power-valance-tutorial.html
It looks like you’d only need to know how to make a magic ring, double crochet, chain stitches, and a few other basics. Since each flower is crocheted individually, you can easily spread out the work of making the curtain over several evenings. For me, the curtain should have lots of yellow, blue, red, and maybe even white flowers. Orange isn’t my color, not to mention the combination of orange and turquoise. But that’s just a matter of personal taste.
The good thing about it, in my opinion, is that you can pull the center section down as far as you like—or as far as the yarn will go. Thanks to the openwork design, sunlight still filters through the windows, so the room is protected from prying eyes but isn’t darkened. With the floral design, you can bring a touch of summer into your home, even when the weather in the garden isn’t cooperating yet again.
I really like these flowers that never wilt—they’re the perfect match.

Has anyone here already crocheted a curtain like this? Are there any pitfalls or common difficulties?
What I don’t understand now is this: there’s already a detailed pattern. Are we supposed to copy it here now???
Why don’t you use the existing pattern?
If questions about the technique come up, you can ask here in the forum. Or the designer of the original pattern???
Don’t be upset...
Best regards

it’s not about copying the pattern. I just wanted to share my delight in how much I like these flowers with other users.
If someone wants to develop their own ideas based on this, I’d find that very interesting, but of course I assumed that would involve a significant contribution of their own ideas. I’m not a seller, just a crochet enthusiast; I have no idea how or where ideas for patterns come from.
I think that’s why there’s been a misunderstanding here in the thread.
Actually, I just wanted to start a friendly chat about different variations of flower curtains—it hasn’t really worked out so far, but maybe it still will. If I somehow expressed myself unclearly above, please forgive me.
How do you like the flowers as a curtain? I could also imagine a pattern like this as a blanket or a sofa throw. You could definitely do a lot with this pattern.
Good morning, Sydney, hello Petra!
Yes, I’ve crocheted something similar before, though so far mostly as tablecloths or bedspreads. For curtains or drapes, I prefer (for my own taste) finer yarns. I’ve also made curtains using fine yarns.
I think the curtain is quite pretty; where it fits, it’s sure to be an eye-catcher.
The flowers are crocheted individually, but the tips of the flowers are joined together as you crochet, so you have to plan ahead (if you’re working with different colors) which flower to crochet when.
Good morning, everyone!
I think the curtain is totally cute, too. The little flowers might be a bit too big and chunky for my taste… but you could always make them smaller. I like the idea of using thinner yarn—it makes the curtain a bit more delicate. Although it certainly depends on what you’re going for—if you want light to come through, it makes sense to crochet larger patterns with lots of chain stitches using thin yarn. If it’s meant to provide privacy, you could also crochet smaller flowers using thicker yarn :-)
Best wishes,
Petra
