Dear users, dear authors,
are there any craft techniques you’d really like to learn?
Feel free to share your thoughts.

Oh yes, there are quite a few things still on my to-do list.

Spinning, for example. If a class were offered around here, I’d jump at the chance.
Or bobbin lace-making. The beautiful things you can make with it—I’m blown away every time!

But being able to spin (well, sometimes I’m actually pretty good at it—but I mean the other kind of spinning ;-) ), that would be a big dream of mine.

How about retraining? I had already started this thread before I read your post.
And I also immediately started a thread about spinning

First of all, I’d like to get good enough at knitting and crocheting so that even more complicated pieces and patterns look nice when I make them.
I’d also really love to be able to sew without a sewing pattern.
Yes, and bobbin lace-making—that would be great, of course! I’m pretty good at macramé, and I actually thought it wouldn’t be too big a leap from there to bobbin lace-making, but when I saw the women at work… it’s truly amazing, and so are the results! I probably won’t learn that in this lifetime :-).

I know the basics of weaving—it would be cool to have unusual weaving workshops or patterns for it.

I really want to learn how to knit. But I feel like I’m too stupid for it. I’m better with a size 1 needle :-)

Felting—that would be it. And I’m going to learn it one day. As soon as my little ones are older and I’m not spending my afternoons on homework and studying anymore (when I left school, I thought I’d never have to do that again...).

And a few craft techniques as well. Though for that I’d only have to go to my husband—he can do just about anything, and our son is already learning diligently from him. I never have any time left for it. But that will come too. I’m especially interested in soldering and a bit of welding. I can already manage fretsaw work, but really beautiful things made of wood.

What I really want to learn next is how to dye yarn myself! I’ve gotten pretty good at dyeing fabrics by now, and the difference with yarn can’t be that big, right...? My dream: a closet full of hand-dyed yarn in every possible shade and in different types of yarn... so I can draw on a wealth of options for my knitting projects...

Bobbin lace-making would be my dream. I’ve watched the ladies do it so many times. I want to be able to do that, too. But unfortunately, there aren’t any bobbin lace classes here where I could give it a try. And I’d also like to try spinning sometime. But unfortunately, I don’t know anyone who could show me how and let me give it a go. I just want to know if I can do it, too. Maybe it’s too hard for me?

Good morning!

Aside from wanting to improve my rudimentary knitting skills, I’d love to learn bobbin lace-making.
But I’m putting that off until all my kids are at least in elementary school (so 2022 at the earliest…), since I don’t want to risk little fingers mixing up my bobbins *laughs*…
With crochet, it’s not such a big deal when little hands want to “help”…

Best regards

Bobbin lace-making is still missing from my list of craft skills, and it’s the only thing I really want to learn. But I’m stuck because I have no idea where to learn it.

Oh yes, I do have a wish. I’d love to crochet a sweater using the Tunisian crochet method. I really like this style of crocheting. Unfortunately, there isn’t much instructional material available:

Yes, I’d love to know how to do the Italian cast-on and decreasing in knitting. I think it looks very professional—if you know how to do it :-)

I really want to learn the jasmine/star stitch. For some reason, I just can’t seem to figure it out... Even though I’ve tried several times already.
But hey, I’m not giving up... I’ll get it eventually (:”

@margrit56—I learned the Italian cast-on yesterday from a YouTube video and tried it out right away on my wrist warmers—it went like a charm! If you’re interested, I’ll send you the link via PM.
