Hello everyone,

Socks – small, unassuming, and usually hidden inside a shoe. But we know better! 🧶 Behind every handmade sock there is skill, patience, and a whole lot of love. Whether colorful with a gradient, cozy with a cable pattern, cheeky with an animal motif, or classic with stripes – socks are the secret star of every handmade project!

Our new campaign is all about your favorite footwear. Show us your most beautiful, craziest, coziest, or most creative socks – whether they’re fresh off the needles or your pride and joy from last winter!

✂️ How to take part:

Simply post a reply in this thread with the following information:

Motif / title: [e.g. “My Rainbow Striped Socks” or “Grandma’s Secret Recipe Socks”]
Technique: [Knitting / Crochet / Knooking / Mix]
Brief info: [Yarn, needle size, pattern – whatever you’d like to share]
Short story (2–4 sentences): [Who were they for? What makes them special? Is there a story behind them?]
Photos: [At least 1 photo – TIP: Show them on your feet, being worn, or in action! Whether on the couch, in the garden, or over Sunday coffee – that makes the best pictures! ☕]

📋 The rules:

  • All handmade techniques are welcome (knitting, crochet, knooking, machine knitting…)
  • They must be socks – sneaker socks, baby socks, knee socks, house socks, wool socks, bed socks… they all count!
  • Already finished AND new projects are allowed
  • Original designs AND projects made from a pattern count
  • Please like the posts you like best
  • Prize: €100 Crazypatterns store credit 🎉
  • Runs until: April 23, 2026
  • Feel free to share the campaign on your social media channels!

💡 Need inspiration? Here are a few ideas:

  • Classic socks with cuff, heel, and toe
  • Baby socks & children’s socks
  • Sneaker socks & footies
  • Cozy house socks & bed socks
  • Knee socks & over-the-knee socks
  • Socks with gradients or jacquard patterns
  • Fun motif socks (animals, sayings, characters)
  • Socks with cable, lace, or openwork patterns
  • Spiral socks, boomerang heels & co.
  • Crocheted socks – yes, that works for this campaign too! 😉

There are no limits to your creativity!

📸 Photo tip for a wow effect:

Don’t just show your socks lying flat – wear them! Whether on the sofa, in the grass, on the balcony, or while drinking coffee – socks in action simply look the best. And if you have several pairs: bring them on! We love sock families! 🥰

🥇 🥈 🥉 The winners will be chosen as usual:

  • Community Choice: 3 × €20 = €60 (The 3 posts with the most likes win)
  • Jury Picks: 2 × €10 = €20 (Jury = Operator and Moderator)
  • Random selection: 2 × €10 = €20 (2 participating posts will be chosen at random)

We’re excited to see what you’ve had on your needles and what else will be created before the campaign ends. Show us that socks are more than just footwear – they’re wearable works of art! 🫶

Don’t forget to like your favorites and share the campaign with your craft-loving friends!

Have fun and good luck!
Your Crazypatterns team 🎀

P.S. There’s even more to win for all sock knitters! 🧦✨ Crazypatterns is also hosting the big Sock Award at the same time as part of the official sock world record attempt – with shopping credit totaling €2,027 for 111 winners! To enter, simply upload a photo of your knitted socks here and additionally to the gallery and add the hashtag #Sockenweltrekord. A small selection of the socks I’ve knitted lately. They’re made from 4-ply and 6-ply sock yarn.
I give most of the socks away—they’re always a hit.
And I love that you can have a finished pair in just a few hours.

Title: Elastic Socks for the Whole Family
Technique: Knitting
Brief info: 4-ply sock yarn, elastic pattern for the whole sock, very well-fitting horseshoe heel, band toe
Short story: At the beginning of the year, a household accident had me confined to the couch for a while. During that time, I knitted lots of socks for my whole family. And so that everyone—even beginners—can knit them too, I wrote a detailed step-by-step knitting pattern

My Knitted Tilly Partner Socks

I’d had this ball of yarn lying around for a long time, and thanks to the sock challenge, I’ve actually reignited my love of knitting. So I ended up making not just one pair of socks in size 43, but also another pair in size 39. Partner socks, so to speak. I knitted the second pair of socks starting from the toe, so I could use up all the yarn.
And best of all: the next pair of socks is already in the works. I’ve caught the knitting bug again.

Yarn: “Tilly” by Woll Butt, four-ply, needle size 2.5—but I have to say, it wasn’t the easiest to knit with, since the four plies separated very quickly. Especially with the double stitches for the boomerang heel, I had to be very careful not to catch just half a strand.

Cute Easter Gifts

Technique: Knitting
Quick details: 4-ply sock yarn in spring colors
Short story (2–4 sentences): I found a wonderful skein of hand-dyed, colorful sock yarn online. I used it to knit some cheerful socks for my granddaughter, which are now waiting for her in her Easter basket along with some candy. She’ll polish off the candy in no time, but the socks will last her much longer.

Sweet Easter Gifts No. 2

Technique: Knitting
Brief info: 4-ply sock yarn in spring colors
Short story (2–4 sentences): Since all grandchildren have to be treated equally, my grandson will of course also get a pair of warm socks in his Easter basket. And he even picked out this yarn with the beautiful long color gradients himself! If you look closely, you’ll see that it has a fine sparkle. It is "Meilenweit 100 Color Mix Sparks" by Lana Grossa.

Technique: Knitting
Quick details: 4-ply sock yarn in rainbow colors
Short story:
I’m actually not very good at knitting socks because the yarn is too thin for me and the small rounds are too fiddly. But I couldn’t resist the banana sock trend, so I knitted a pair using multicolored yarn (size 38). They fit me well and put me in a good mood!

Technique: Knitting
Quick facts: 4-ply sock yarn in various colors
Short story (2–4 sentences):
Back then, I had the opportunity to test the Mowi heel for Monika (mowi 19), who has sadly passed away. As a result, I ended up making several pairs of socks, ranging from baby to adult sizes. Even though I always struggle with socks, the pattern is great.

Motif / Title: Timbila Socks
Technique: Using addi crazy trio unicron size 2.25 and 4-ply industrial wool
Quick info: Pattern by Sabine Bockisch - needle_addicted
Short story (2–4 sentences): Sabine developed this pattern to achieve a perfect fit, even if you don’t know the shape of the foot. Since I donate most of my socks, I had to give this a try. The socks hug the foot nicely, whether the foot is narrow or wide or has a high instep. So they’re also perfectly suited for the world sock record.

This pair of socks, with green as the main color, is going back into the box for the “Green Sock Campaign.”💚

Motif / Title: Luxury for the Feet
Technique: Knitting
Quick Details: Knitted using the free sock pattern on the CP blog

Short Story (2–4 sentences):
After fulfilling my family’s wishes over the past few months and knitting everyone their favorite socks, it was time to knit something for MYSELF.
For years, I’ve been saving a particularly soft, supple sock yarn. It’s called “Fine Merino Socks” by Lanartus. Using this wonderful yarn, I knitted myself a pair of wonderfully soft, supple socks. They’re a delight to wear.
