If you’d like to have a nativity scene with hand-crocheted figures for Christmas, you could start working on it now so you won’t be too stressed out at the last minute. You can also make great use of leftover yarn: let your stash inspire you! You don’t have to do everything at once—you can crochet one or two little figures every now and then.
I have three crochet patterns for nativity figures in my shop that you can crochet bit by bit. For each figure, I’ve specified which yarn I used and how much of it I needed. That way, you can easily compare it with what you have in your stash.
It’s best to start with the
Holy Family
. The pattern includes instructions for Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus, the manger, the poinsettia, as well as the ox and the donkey. With these, you can already set up a small nativity scene.
Next, you can then make
shepherds, sheep, and a Christmas angel
. In addition to the Christmas angel, the pattern includes 3 different shepherds and 2 different sheep (lying down and standing).
And as a final addition, all that’s missing are the
Three Wise Men.
They’re on their way with their exotic animals (camel, elephant, and horse) to bring their gifts to the Christ Child.
I hope you have lots of fun with this varied project!
