Yarn swap package No. 1/2023 is on its way, Part 2. (No advertising)

Hello dear everyone,

As of today, the swap package is on its way. Its first stop will be with ines66. After that, Ines will send it to the next participant. The participant list with the addresses is in the package.

You can send the 5 kg package either with DHL for 6.99 or with Hermes for 5.95 euros. The 5.95 euros with Hermes (M package) applies to the current box, whose longest and shortest sides combined may measure up to 80 cm.

Now I wish us all lots of fun swapping yarn. I hope there is something for everyone. Please feel free to share your swap activities with us here in this thread. That way everyone can get a little
excited along with you or even discover a new yarn or two via the screen.

I just saw that the postal service is on strike. This means that if we send our swap packages via DHL, they might arrive much later at the next recipient’s address.

So it might be better to ship with Hermes. I’ve had very good experiences with them lately, especially when it comes to delivery times.

Just a heads-up for you all.

I’m already curious to see when the package will arrive at Ines’s place and what she’ll pick out.

I just wanted to quickly let you know that the package arrived today, BUT... I won’t be able to open it until Sunday 😔 I’m torturing myself a bit with that, but I’m having guests over tonight, and tomorrow I’m on grandchild duty, and I’d really like to take my time and let the yarn sink in. So Sunday will be all about the yarn, and on Monday the package will go on to Monika.

Because of the strike at DHL, I’m also shipping with Hermes. 

You’ll see my selection on Sunday/Monday....

So, my dears, how right some of you were when you said, “I couldn’t wait that loooong,” hehe—I actually found myself glancing at the package over and over again last night, but because of a visitor, I just couldn’t get around to opening it.
So before my grandson arrived, I’d already been up for a while and opened the package. What can I say? I really spent a long time deciding which yarn to choose from the many varieties Ina had packed.
I’ve made my decision now—my grandson is asleep—and while I was at it, I jotted down two more yarns that weren’t my color; maybe I’ll find them in stores, haha…....
The package is now restocked and will be sent via Hermes on Monday morning. Monika, I think you can start looking forward to it—there are some absolutely gorgeous yarns in the package.

I’m not quite sure yet exactly what I’ll make with them, but the gray and white merino wool will become a hat and scarf for Wim. I’ll show those in due time in our thread about the projects from the swap packages.

That looks lovely, Ines—it would make my fingers itch to get started right away. But I still have things to do: our granddaughter, Käthe, turns 2 on March 2, and our grandson, Momme, is just under 4 months old. Then I’ll get back to making something for myself and for the upcoming craft fairs—it’s never boring!

Wow, Ines, das sind ja richtig schöne Schätzchen, die du dir da ausgesucht hast. Wunderschöne Auswahl!

Ich freu mich schon total auf das Paket, hab mir nämlich eine Anleitung angelacht für einen Kurzarmpulli aus verschiedenen Farben - im Patchwork-Stil. Da will ich erstmal im Paket schauen, ob sich da was dafür eignet. Verlaufsgarn wäre dafür der Hit. Es juckt mir schon in den Fingern, den anzufangen. Nun bin ich seeehr gespannt und freu mich wie vor Weihnachten.

Natürlich werde meine Schätze hier auch zeigen und später das Ergebnis.

Fein Ines, Du hast Dir schöne neue Schätze ausgesucht. Die Merino-Wollen fassen sich ganz weich an, ich weiß. Du hast Glück, dass mir die Farben nicht "farbig" genug waren. Daraus können sehr gut Wintersachen für Wim werden. Das werden auch die Eltern mögen, eben, weil es nicht so bunte Farben sind. Die Alize Diva-Garne gehen auch immer für alle möglichen Häkelprojekte. So schönes glattes Garn und langer Lauflänge. Das findet man kaum bei deutschen Garnen.

Ich wünsche Dir viel Freude mit den neuen Schätzen ... und jetzt Monika viel Vorfreude. Ich hoffe, Deine Wünsche erfüllen sich.

@Ramona - für dieses Mal ist der Zug leider abgefahren. Das Paket ist schon auf Reisen. Das nächste Tauschpaket wird es erst im nächsten Quartal geben. Wenn Du hier regelmäßig im Forum mitliest, dann bekommst Du das bestimmt auch mit.

Ines, da hast du echte Schätzchen ausgesucht..... ich freue mich mit dir.

Nun dauert es nicht mehr lange und nach Moni bin ich ja schon dran mit "Wollebaden" .... die Spannung steigt 

Vorhin habe ich einen Dino aus der Tauschwolle vom letzten Jahr fertig gehäkelt und gleich versteckt,  damit ich diesmal ein Foto machen kann.  Die Enkel sind immer schneller mit einpacken als man gucken kann ..lach..
Aber schön wenn die Mäuse sich so drüber freuen.

Oh Monika, the purple yarn ended up with you—it was a joy to work with. I knitted myself a soul warmer with it, and that one ended up with my friend, who wears the same size as me. I still have some of that yarn in shades of green, so I made another one for myself 😊 But the other yarns are all very beautiful too—I’m excited to see what you’ll create with them.

Oh Ines, das ist ja fein, dass die lila Wolle von dir ist. Die hatte wohl keine Lust mehr zu reisen. Ich weiß nicht, ob 250 g für einen Seelenwärmer reichen, was meinst du?

Ja Sabine, ich dachte mir einfach, du kannst dann das Wochenende nutzen und dich freuen. Bei uns ist es heute schneefrei, was sich ab morgen ändern soll. Bei Schnee fahren wir nicht unbedingt mit unserem Oldie-Auto, nur wenn es unbedingt sein muss. So habe ich mich heute mal sehr schnell entschieden.

Für mein Tunika-Projekt muss ich mir dann andere Wolle zusammenstellen, denn da brauche ich möglichst dünne.

Monika, I used just under 500g for size 44/46, though I knitted it quite loosely.

Ja, das Verlaufsgarn hatte es mir sofort angetan. Das fühlt sich auch total kuschlig und weich an. Dafür hätte ich sogar schon mehrere Vorstellungen, kann mich aber noch nicht entscheiden. Es könnte diesmal etwas dauern mit der Verarbeitung. Zum Glück ist es ja haltbar. :)

Bei den Verlaufswollen könnte ich auch nicht widerstehen, ich bin ja im Moment grad vernarrt in die japanischen Handschuhe, da wirkt solche Wolle ganz toll! Einfach schade, dass ich nicht mittauschen kann, aber ich freue mich immer über eure Schätze!

Hi everyone, the package arrived at my place 2.5 hours ago. I had really stopped expecting it, but yes... Hermes drivers do deliver all day on Saturdays too. Good for me :)
I’ve already made an initial selection. The different yarns are so varied, very interesting.

Hallo ihr Lieben,

hier kommt nun meine Auswahl. Es war so schwer und gleichzeitig so schön.... soviel verschiedene Garne, die ich auch so noch nicht kannte... also anfassen, aussuchen und überlegen was es werden könnte. Jetzt ist die Entscheidung gefallen.

Das bunte Baumwollgarn wird ein Schneckenkörper und mal sehen ;) , das grüne Garn werde ich zu einem Tuch verstricken und bei der braunen Wolle lass ich mich noch überraschen. Meine Schwester mag solche Farbtöne... könnte also auch ein Tuch werden.
Das Filetgarn wird zu Blümchen und Eulen verhäkelt. Da ergänzt es meinen Garnvorrat ganz gut.
Ich werde es euch zeigen, wenn es verarbeitet ist.

Das Paket ist neu geschnürrt und geht morgen zum Paketshop.

So... Maria messaged me—the package arrived at her place on Thursday, and she’s already got some yarn from the package on her needles... And she’s already sent it on. It’ll probably be picked up from the “station” on Monday and then sent on to Bauli.....

The scarf looks great, I’m going to curl up on the sofa now too and knit.
I pretty much neglected that last week. I dragged my husband to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon because he’d had stomach pains for days, and he had surgery that same night—appendix...
I picked him up again the day before yesterday, but he’s still pretty weak and isn’t allowed to lift or carry anything, bend over, etc.

Thank you, everyone—he’s already feeling better and is eating again. He also saw our family doctor today; he’s still not allowed to lift, carry, or bend over, but he’s doing better. And he’s just happy to be back home and being pampered by me...😂

Dear Margitta, we’re all so happy to hear that your husband is feeling better again. Yes, go ahead and pamper him—he needs it right now.

And Maria picked out some beautiful yarn and got started right away. You’re really quick. But the yarn probably inspired you right away to create this new piece (which looks great!). I love the soft colors and the color gradient. It’s as if the yarn had been waiting just for you.

Now let’s see what the next person in the swap group has in store for us. I’m sure Bauli is already really excited.

The decision has been made. I’m going to use the mohair yarn to make a cozy sweater, combined with some of my own yarn. I haven’t knitted socks in ten years, but now I have a reason to start again 😁, and I already have a summer project in mind for the bobble yarn.

Hallo Bauli, das sieht nach einem erfolgreichen Tausch aus. So schöne neue Wollen hast Du erbeutet und sogar schon Pläne dafür im Kopf. Ich freue mich, dass die hellrosa Wolle bei Dir ein neues Zuhause gefunden hat. Ich fand die Farbe immer soooo schön, aber leider ist sie mir zu flauschig. Ich vertrage kein Mohair, daher durfte sie sich einen neuen Besitzer suchen.

Ich wünsche Dir viel Freude mit Deinen neuen Schätzen. Übrigens kann man aus grauer Sockenwolle nicht nur Socken stricken. Sockenwolle ist so fein, dass man auch andere Sachen daraus werkeln kann.

ich war auch schon gespannt, welche Wolle Du Dir aussuchst. Eine sehr schöne Auswahl hast Du getroffen. Die rosa Flauschwolle lacht einem ja förmlich an. Nun ist sie bei Dir. Mohair hab ich auch noch nie verarbeitet. Hält bestimmt schön warm.
