Then today is going to be a really great day....
Because today my “chocolate fruit spread” is finally arriving, too.....
So, browse through the yarn and then enjoy it..... First the yarn, and then fresh bread with treats 💖
So excited, yippee!

Hi Steffi,

I just checked the tracking. It says the parcel has arrived in the recipient’s region.

Let’s see if it arrives today.

The tracking says today. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hey there... Let me show you my “treasures”....

I just have to try out the Noro. It’s a paper yarn—it feels pretty scratchy right now, but it’s supposed to be super soft after washing.
The brown one has a slight sheen and a really warm shade, like chestnuts; I’ll probably make a Fair Isle sweater with it 😇
The really tiny ones at the bottom… I thought about them for a long time and initially put them back in the package. After weighing them, it was clear—they’re too heavy, about 80 g... They couldn’t have screamed any louder to say they absolutely wanted to stay here... Now “mine” finally have some company...
They go really well together....

Now I just need to seal the box, and then tomorrow—or rather, Monday—it’ll be on its way to Monalisa

Wow, you’ve picked out some really lovely treasures, Steffi. I knew that thick brown yarn was meant for you. :) The little ones go well with yours. I’m sure you’ll come up with something lovely.

I didn’t know that the turquoise yarn is called “paper yarn.” I’d never heard of it before and was wondering what kind of strange yarn it was. How nice that it’s now found a home with you.

I also noticed the set of double-pointed needles, but I generally don’t knit with them.

I’m curious to see what you’ll conjure up with all these treasures.

Uiii Steffi, sehr schöne Wollen hast du gefunden, dann lassen wir uns malüberraschen, was du daraus zauberst.
So langsam bin ich nun auch schon hippelig, was mich wohl erwartet.
Allen hier ein schönes Wochenende :)

.....the brown one isn’t that thick after all—105m/50g....
And I also had to “search” for the “paper yarn” online first....
The little ones will be going on the board loom soon—it’s empty right now, and with these colors, I’m sure I can weave a beautiful belt.

Bin gespannt, was Du daraus "zauberst".

I used some paper yarn this year to make little Easter baskets. I think it’s only suitable for decorations.

Good morning....
Did you wash that too? On “another” platform, I saw that a lot of people have knitted a shirt or a shawl out of it. It’s supposed to be really comfortable to wear after it’s been washed. I’m going to knit a bag out of it anyway—that’s the plan....

Dear Steffi,

I’m so glad to see what interesting things you’ve discovered. In a store, you would have just briefly touched the “paper yarn” and then probably moved on. But because you took the time to explore its potential, you can now turn it into something special. You probably wouldn’t have bought it, but when it’s presented to you in a swap package, you feel inspired to experiment. We’re just as excited as you are to see what you’ll make of it and how its properties will change.

I can really picture the brown yarn in a Fair Isle sweater. The shade is truly beautiful. But I think it really comes into its own only when paired with other complementary colors—it’s just like in the fall. That’s when one color enhances the effect of the others.

And the little skeins in those subtle shades go very well with yours, of course. You can use them to add lovely accents to a belt or create patterns. It’s great that you’ve mastered such sophisticated techniques. It’s a good thing the package ended up being 80 g too heavy. You would have definitely missed them later. Once you have an idea in your head and then the yarn has moved on, it stays with you for a long time.

I hope you enjoy your new yarn treasures.

Warm regards, Ina

You’ve picked out some great yarn.
The little pieces look good—I’m looking forward to seeing the finished belt.
I actually still have some of this yarn at home, too.
I hadn’t thought of weaving it into a belt.

Dear Margitta,

the anticipation is naturally building for all of us to see what treasures you’ll choose. Take your time—often, the items that are meant to stay with you only reveal themselves at second glance.

It really is something special to have such a large yarn package to choose from. It’s now become a special highlight here at CP whenever Ina announces a new swap package.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you once again, dear Ina—for the idea and, above all, for all the work you put into it.

Warm regards to everyone from Monika

I can hardly decide—the yarn is so beautiful. I need to think again about what I could make with each skein, but I think I’ve got it now.  But I’ve already gathered together what I’ll be putting back in. Then I’ll weigh it to see if anything else “wants” to come with me or if this is just right.

Dear Ina, thank you so much again for all your work, for letting me participate, and for the sweet idea with the little notes.
Warm regards, Margitta

Here’s what I made:

for a change, I’m going to use these beautiful bobbles to crochet a shawl for the cold winter.
The green yarn will become wrist warmers (knitted), and hopefully the thin yarn will be enough for a pair of yoga socks.
Many thanks to the donors

Margitta, you’ve found some really beautiful yarn and already have specific plans for what to make with it. But then again, with some things, you just have a clear picture in your mind or can start thinking about it while you’re still picking it out.
If I’m not mistaken, I’m next—perfect, then everything will work out before my vacation.

Have a wonderful evening, everyone.

Oh, how lovely... The yarn cakes really did “speak” 👍 To me in the shop, they only screamed “take me with you,” and after that, “not a word” more...
I also had Drops Nepal on my shortlist—a really beautiful yarn.

My husband is always “just happy” that I didn’t order such a big yarn package! And that it’s moving on, even though he still hasn’t understood why... He doesn’t have to, though. 😇

@monalisa2662
the system automatically resizes the photos. You can simply upload them; the forum really does it automatically.
If there are any problems, please just upload the image as a file, not via a link. The link method is prone to errors.

The yarn cakes practically “jumped” right into my lap and wouldn’t leave.

I tried uploading them from the gallery and also directly with the camera, but I kept getting the message “File must not be larger than 2 MB,” and the image wouldn’t load at all. What am I doing wrong?

3.4 MB, but I can’t do anything about that—my phone does it on its own....

And while we’re at it, how do I add emojis here?

Sorry if I’m being a pain, but other than buying patterns, I haven’t done anything else on CP yet.

Thanks so much

I’m so glad, dear Margitta, that such beautiful, colorful, and green yarn has found its way to you. The shawls are sure to turn out great, and I can already picture the yoga socks you’re planning. If you split the 150 g in half, you’ll know exactly how much yarn each sock should use. If necessary, you can just use a different color for the cuff. I think the green is a lovely Mediterranean green—not too bright, but rather muted, just right for yoga socks.

@Monika and Margitta
It’s so sweet of you to leave me a thank-you note here; I really appreciate it.

I just checked: Yes, now it’s Ines’s turn, then Mel, and then Johanna.

Warm regards and have a lovely evening—Ina

Margitta, I like the yarn you picked out, too—especially the bobbles. Those are right up my alley. Your shawl is sure to turn out beautifully.

Now the package can continue on its journey, and the excitement is building. The yarn that ends up with Ina at the very end would surely have a lot to tell about all the adventures it’s had along the way. :)

I’d also like to know how to add smiley faces and such here.

We’ll finally be spending the next few days with our granddaughters, so I’ll only be online sporadically until Monday.

So, first off, about the emojis. For me, this only works on my tablet or phone because I can tap emojis directly on the keyboard there.  It doesn’t work for me on a PC because the word processor doesn’t support emojis. Maybe you’d have to download them separately?

As for the image size: they really can’t be larger than 2 MB. But you can resize images using various image editing programs.

Thank you so much, dear Petra, for your comment "It's sooo much fun just reading along here..." - that makes me happy, and I think lots of people do the same. Including many quiet readers and people who are just watching.

Many thanks to all the participants for letting us share in your excitement. It's a bit like we're all secretly there in your living room. We're basically keeping an eye out for the mail carrier together, sympathizing when the husband raises an eyebrow questioningly, and waiting patiently with you until you're finally alone and allowed to unpack the big surprise package. By now it should almost be time at Ines's place. So we're staying excited.

I wish everyone a lovely day. Best wishes, Ina

Dear friends, dear Ines,
the package is ready AND my husband is taking it to the post office tomorrow(!) He always has physical therapy on Fridays in the village two towns over, and there’s a post office there too. I hope it arrives before your vacation—when are you leaving? Unfortunately, I’ve had to set aside the baby jacket for the (not-yet-born) little one and start on the yoga socks for now 🙈 But I actually always knit several things at once—do you guys do that too?
Warm regards and have a lovely evening, Margitta

Yes, Margitta, that’s how it always goes for a lot of people here. You make a firm resolution to finally finish this project. A very firm one. And then a new skein of yarn and a new idea sneak in. And then there’s no helping it… first, you just have to try out the yarn and knit a little bit. Or just quickly test a pattern to see how it would look with this yarn. And just like that, the new project pushes its way to the front. After that, you just have to be really disciplined and keep working on the previous project, otherwise you’ll end up with a bunch of half-finished projects and feel frustrated because nothing ever gets finished.

I just have to make sure I pause the previous project at a point where I can easily pick it back up. So not at any complicated parts.

In your case, I hope the baby gives you enough time to finish his little jacket. You’ll definitely be able to squeeze in the yoga socks too.

It’s great that your husband is taking “our package” to the post office.

Best wishes, Ina

Ina is absolutely right—I felt the same way about a yarn from the second package; I just had to knit a blanket with it.

Oh, that’s great, Margitta—that works out perfectly. We’re flying on September 20, so I can browse through it at my leisure, and my husband will take the package to the post office. It’s nice when your better half lends a hand.

Luckily, he has a hobby he’s really into—model trains—so I don’t get any rolled eyes or anything when it comes to yarn packages. So now I’m really looking forward to the package.
Have a lovely evening, everyone.

Yes, Ina, that’s exactly how it is. Just trying it out, just seeing what the cloud pattern looks like when knitted—and now I’m hooked…
The little one is due on September 30, of all days, and Michael’s daughter already has a few knitted items from me, but I’ve got plenty of these “UFOs” lying around here.
In early December, I’ll also be at a craft market in Norderstedt for 2.5 days—I still have quite a bit to produce for that.... Do you guys actually sell finished items at markets, on eBay, Kasuwa, Palundu, etc.?

liebe Margitta, da hast Du Dir herrliche Bobbels ausgesucht.

So gehts mir oft.

Oh, I think I’m an exception here…
I can’t work on multiple projects at the same time. I actually wanted to crochet another mandala—I even have the yarn ready to go—but just before I was about to start, a comfort blanket for our nursing home came up. I’d actually planned to crochet both at the same time, but time is so tight, so now I’m finishing the blanket first and then the mandala. That’s always how it goes for me. One thing at a time. I don’t like UFOs.

You’ve picked out some really great things, Margitta!
I feel the same way as Mel—having UFOs lying around would make me nervous, so I always do one thing at a time. Well, almost always—not right now, but it’ll be over soon; I’ve just tucked a few egg cozies in among the Halloween decorations, so that’s fine.

Hello, swap friends!

The package arrived at my place quite early today, and after lunch I was able to take my time browsing through it and feeling the yarns.
Here’s what I got

The green yarn will become a hat for my grandson—Camilla yarn—I love it, so I was able to restock my supply. The Nepal yarn from Drops—I’ll be ordering two more colors to go with it, and then I’ll make some couch pillows. So this time I actually have a few more specific plans, haha. I’ll show you the results once they’re finished.

I’ll ship them out by Thursday at the latest—unfortunately, our post office is closed tomorrow, and I’ll be out this afternoon. Melanie, you’re next.

@Ina, it’s enchanting how you packaged those little notes—you do everything with such dedication, so a heartfelt thank you from me.

Have a pleasant afternoon, everyone

Dear Ines, you’ve certainly adopted a few treasures there 😊
Stocking up on Camilla… I hadn’t even heard of that yarn before.
@Margitta…
Then check out the Drops website… there you can look at the yarns in the color chart and also find prices from various online shops that partner with Drops… I’ve ordered yarn from there quite a few times. 🙈 A few years ago, we had a yarn shop in Flensburg that actually carried the entire Drops line—unfortunately, that’s no longer the case....
I’m still “struggling” with my cardigan 🤷—it would definitely have turned into a UFO if I hadn’t made a firm resolution to finish one project before starting the next. And yet, the yarn for the sweater from the swap package is already laid out and waiting....

I know Steffi… she’ll definitely finish something, and then “new yarn comes my way” and screams really loud, “Try me out, use me!”
Is that actually your cat in your avatar? I’ve had four in my life—Mona was the last one, and she’s been in cat heaven for two years now. I’m not allowed to get a new one; my husband hates cats…
I’ll check out that site sometime—thanks for the tip

Yes, the tomcat was actually born right here in my living room 🙈 in 2010!!!! His mom lives with us, too. Life without a cat is just unthinkable. I tried it—when my “first” one here in the house had to go, I didn’t really want another one at first. But I hadn’t counted on that pretty neglected, disheveled tomcat who was just waiting for a good home. He stayed with us for 8 years. Cats really are very “special” 😍😇

I haven’t started any new UFO projects since the beginning of the year. I’m really proud of myself!!!!
I hope it stays that way.
I’m already really excited to see how the swap yarn knits up

I really love Drops’ yarns and usually buy them from Algawo(de). The price is good, and shipping is fast. It’s always so tempting to save on shipping costs…… do you know what I mean?

Ines, you’ve scored another great find with your yarn. I also included Camilla in the package—I think it was even the brown one, since that’s not really my color.

It’s so exciting to be on the edge of my seat here with every new arrival in the yarn package. Bathing in yarn… Mel, I’ll have to remember that. Sounds great!

Dear Monika.... You mean those “last two or three extra skeins” that absolutely have to go into the package so the free shipping threshold is met???? Oh yes, I know those 🙈 and they’re usually the ones that end up in the yarn swap package afterward 😇😂😇

@Margitta.... Doesn’t your cat get to decide where she wants to live? I think your husband hasn’t quite grasped the “nature” of a cat 😂
When things get too hectic for mine here at home, she might just go on “vacation” a few houses down. ... Then she’s “out and about” for 2–6 days.... But I know by now where she is—trying to bring her home would be pointless... Whatever a cat decides, she’ll see it through...

Steffi, you know what they say:

were mice in a past life”

Good evening,

I’m always following along closely. @Ines, you’ve picked out some lovely yarn. Have fun working with it.
It’s always really interesting to see what kinds of yarn end up in the package.

Hugs from me

But it’s not just online that you can get caught up in this shopping frenzy… a few years ago, I discovered a little shop that was having a clearance sale. So I really went all out🫣
The yarn was just sooo beautiful, and a lot of it is still sitting in my boxes. But don’t say a word…

Dear Ines, this time you swapped various types of yarn in small quantities. The advantage of this is that you don’t have to knit a large blanket like you did with the last swap package. It’s great that you already have ideas for the swap yarn.

Thank you so much for your extra praise as well. I’m very happy that you appreciate the decorative work I did on the little envelopes. Maybe the surprise is hidden in your envelope. But you’re not allowed to open it yet! Not until the end of the swap ring.

Best regards, Ina

There are still a good two weeks left until October 2. Maybe things will work out just in time. But in these two weeks, you should go on vacation and relax.

We’re having calm late-summer weather here. I was just out harvesting more bell peppers and chili peppers. I’m slowly getting tired of all this harvesting. But I can’t do anything with yarn right now because the yarn I ordered is still in the mail. The fabric I ordered for the hat and neck warmers I’m sewing is also still on its way. So I have TIME for something other than crafts. Still, I hope the mail gets here quickly.

I wish all readers a lovely afternoon and Mel a tingling sense of anticipation for the swap package.

Warm regards, Ina

It’s pouring rain here; I wish there were a pharmacy, an Aldi, and a post office with a drive-through window—as it is, I got soaked to the bone despite having a car.

Oh yes, I’m already so excited! I’m going to finish my fidget blanket today and tomorrow, and then I can dive into new projects. The package is coming at just the right time.
Today I harvested another big bowl of tomatoes and a bell pepper, which went into our chicken frittata.
Oh dear, Veronika, that’s a bummer—sure, nature needs the rain, but I’d be all for it only raining at night….😂

Hello everyone,
it’s a shame I missed the yarn swap package 😲
Well, that’s what I get for not reading along for a while 😉
But it’s not like I don’t have any yarn 😂😂

By the way, for everyone with a Windows PC — you can get the emojis by pressing the Windows key and the “period” key, then the emojis will pop up 😇

You’ve got some great yarn in there again — in one swap package I had the Drops Baby Merino that had been calling “me, me!”, and after searching forever I found the yarn at ***Shop*** — they also have the Nepal / Algawo there, I’ll have to remember that too 😉

@ Margitta/monalisa 2662
We have steppe here too (I’m from Upper Franconia) — far too little rain makes it here 🙄

I was “coincidentally” on vacation — buying yarn — we were in Flensburg/visiting a brewery — Glücksburg was nearby, so of course I had to go to “Mützenstraße” — help, shopping frenzy — I would have liked to buy up half the shop if only the “full” yarn cupboard weren’t waiting at home 😇😇😇

I have so many ideas in my head right now — and by now — I can’t believe it, after thinking about it briefly, nine UFOs 😲
Whenever I see something, I always have to try right away whether it’s doable with “that” yarn 🙄 terrible 😉

Since I switched from crocheting to knitting, some “stash yarn” is getting used up too.
At some point I’ll also dare to try socks (yarn from the swap package is still waiting for that)

For vacation I needed something simple (meaning knitting with just 1 skein), so I started something extra too (called a Landlust shawl, knitted with different needle sizes), and now I need another little “souvenir,” let’s see — I’ve started a cowl 😂😂

Otherwise I’ve currently got several two-color things going too (shadow knitting, Hinata shawl, Radiant Gradient Boomerang, slipped-stitch shawl ...) 🤔

I’m already looking forward to “following along and cheering” with your swap package
Next time I’ll be joining in again too 😉

👌😍 hey danke, super hat funktioniert. Man lernt eben immer wieder was dazu.

Soooo. The package arrived at my place at noon today. I was in the middle of cooking, so I couldn’t even peek inside yet🤨
But after lunch, I took it with me to my craft room and had a lovely, long yarn bath 🧶 🛁
It was wonderful!
Choosing which yarns to keep was pretty easy for me.
As you can see, I’m particularly taken with the pink and purple yarns. The turquoise multicolored and solid turquoise ones got to stay, too, and the package 📦 is already refilled and stamped. Tomorrow it’s off to johansi!

Dear Ina, thank you so much for your effort and the sweet little notes. I’m already excited to see what’s inside🥰

Beautiful colors, Mel, I’m already excited to see what you’ll make with them

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. It’s autumnal, stormy, and wet here, so I really have no choice but to curl up on the sofa and crochet or knit 😉
Best regards
Margitta

Great, it worked out before the weekend after all.
The colors are beautiful, and I had been eyeing those purple shades myself at first.

Now we’re curious to see what will be made from it.
Have a lovely weekend, everyone. It’s autumnally gloomy here too, so it’s time to work with some yarn.

Wow, you’re quick, Mel. And what beautiful colors you’ve picked out. I’d love them all, too. Of course, I’m also curious to see what you’ll make with them.

It’s definitely the right weather for yarn right now. It’s just 12 degrees here... brrr... and it’s staying this cold.

Now I wish you all a wonderful weekend with plenty of time to enjoy your yarn. I’m sure you all have enough yarn to keep you happy. New projects are surely already waiting.

Best regards from Monika

Oh, that looks great in the picture, dear Mel. I’ve received some really beautiful yarns. And it’s amazing—some of these yarns have already passed through eight pairs of hands. They were probably just waiting for you.

I hope you enjoy your new treasures.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend—warm regards, Ina

great selection—I would have liked the purple shades, too ;)
I’m curious to see what you’ll make with it.

Hey hey Mel,

you’ve picked out a lovely, colorful mix. Gorgeous colors. I would’ve liked the light blue yarn, too.
Let’s see what interesting things you’ll create with it. Have fun with it.

Thanks also to Ina for the little surprise notes. You always keep us in suspense, but the “reveal” is coming soon.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend

Starting Sunday, we’re going away for a few days, on vacation. I’m really looking forward to it, despite the chilly weather. Finally, some downtime and some crafting *joy*

Lots of love from me
Andrea

The package is on its way again!
Andrea, I hope you have a wonderful vacation!
The turquoise and the thin purple yarn will be used for doll clothes; I’ll probably make a cat pillow out of the Feltro, and the Boston yarn is perfect for a thick, cozy loop scarf. Some of the pink shades will be incorporated into my granny blanket.

You’ve picked out some beautiful yarn. Since you’ve found so much yarn, you’re sure not to get bored even when the weather’s bad.
The package is moving along very quickly, so I can look forward to receiving it in the next few days.
It’ll take a few days to reach deep into Bavaria.
I like the mottled blue yarn best—I’m curious to see what you’ll make with it.
It’s freezing cold and wet here, perfect for knitting socks. Let’s see what I can find; otherwise, there’s definitely some yarn in there for crocheting slippers. The grandkids desperately need bigger slippers.

@johansi,
you won’t believe how fast the mail is! I also sent mine from Bavaria, and it arrived in the northeast in just one day. So you can look forward to your wool surprise package very soon.

Best wishes to you all
Monika

I go through this every now and then, so I switch… from crocheting to knitting or sewing and back again. I’ve been stuck in a sewing rut for quite a while now—I just can’t seem to get motivated, even though the fabrics are piling up here. But I’ll get back into it—I’m sure of it!

Yay, my swap package has arrived.
I just had to open it right before dinner. So I quickly looked through it and put the rest back in.
There’s so much beautiful sock yarn in there—some of it’s now lying on the table.
I’ll leave it out in the open; I’m alone all day anyway.
What are you doing to me? It’s hard for me to decide.
I really love one of the traditional-style yarns. Unfortunately, there are only 3.5 skeins. That probably won’t be enough for a sleeveless
children’s vest, will it?
