Crocheted dish sponges made from sponge yarn are simply incredibly practical! They can be used again and again, because you can wash them in the washing machine at 60° and they dry quickly. This keeps them hygienically clean and fresh. And if they’re decorative too, they’re a real eye-catcher in your kitchen.

Take a look:

The crochet patterns for the last two dish sponges are also available as an affordable bundle:

By the way: the dish sponges also work wonderfully as bath and exfoliating sponges!

These two cuddle cloths make a wonderful, personal gift for a new baby. When the child is a little older, Elo the Elephant and Diggi the Dino are also happy to help with washing. Or they can keep little eyes dry while washing hair—these two are up for anything :-) Both cloths are knitted in Doubleface and then finished with a crocheted border.

A cloth diaper is definitely sustainable and washable, even for little baby dolls (45-50 cm). This one can be crocheted quickly using leftover yarn.

Why buy plastic toys when there’s another way? For example, play food for the toy kitchen can be crocheted very easily using leftover yarn. Toast, butter, vegetables, pasta, and a fried egg. That makes crocheting and playing really fun.

Shopping bags for the pretend store don’t have to be made of plastic either; they can be crocheted. It’s best to fill them with carrots and lemons right away.

Tissues don’t have to be packaged in plastic. We buy them in large cardboard boxes, fold them, and then fill a small crocheted pouch like this with them. It also looks decorative and can be crocheted in your favorite colors.

The large cardboard boxes can also be hidden under a decorative crocheted cover, which is quick to crochet using leftover yarn.

Bathing fun for the little ones doesn’t have to be bought; with sponge yarn you can make this bath sponge, so there’s a character in the tub that many children know. You can wash it in the washing machine at up to 60 °C and use it again and again

Cotton dishcloths are a great alternative to store-bought ones that end up in the trash.

This pattern is also great for using up smaller leftover yarn. You should know how to crochet single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet stitches.

Why throw empty jars into the recycling container?

Crochet-covered jars make lovely table decorations as flower vases or lanterns for balmy summer evenings. Pretty in white for First Communion, Confirmation, or even a wedding.

Empty tin cans can also be used in many ways as storage baskets.

Here, too, you can make great use of your leftover yarn. You should know how to crochet single crochet, double crochet, and half double crochet stitches. It is crocheted in spiral rounds, and you can use as many colors as you like.

Instead of plastic wrap or gift wrap, you can use a knitted gift bag for small treats—the packaging itself is already a lovingly handmade gift. The gift bags are knitted in doubleface and can be used on both sides.

The Basic Elegance crochet pattern looks both delicate and elegant and is perfect for washcloths, dishcloths, and potholders.

This sophisticated-looking pattern is actually super easy to crochet—perfect for beginners and advanced crocheters who want to make something quick and easy in between.

...I’ve always been a little annoyed that none of these tissue boxes are available with eco-friendly paper… Things have changed a bit in the meantime, but here’s an idea for how you can put your eco-friendly toilet paper into a dispenser that you’ve crocheted yourself.... You can crochet this fun, round toilet paper dispenser from your leftover yarn. I’ve made the pattern in three different yarn weights, and that’s exactly how it’s described in the pattern:
