I learned to crochet first, when I was about 4 or 5 years old. Little dresses for my favorite doll were my first creations, and I must have really enjoyed it, because from then on, I always had a crochet project with me :-)
I crocheted and knitted at school,
then for a long, long time I didn’t do any of it.
It wasn’t until two years ago that I suddenly took up knitting,
and I’m still enjoying it, I just don’t know what to do with all my bags.

When I was 4, I made my first foundation chain. There’s even a photo of it.
When I was 8, in elementary school, we had needlework class. I couldn’t knit at all—my knitted piece had holes everywhere. Crocheting went better, but it was still a disaster. Sewing came more easily to me.
Because I couldn’t get the hang of it back then, I thought I was hopeless and never tried it again.
But the idea still lingered in the back of my mind. I wanted so badly to be able to do it. My younger sister could crochet by the time she was 7 and later learned to knit too, while I just sat there thinking, “Huh?” and got my fingers, needles, and yarn all tangled up.
And yet I admired everyone who could work magic with yarn: Mom, my grandmas, aunts, friends, acquaintances… seriously, everyone could do it—except me.
Last November, though, the penny finally dropped. Since then, I’ve been crocheting and daring to tackle more and more projects. I’m going to have my sister show me how to knit soon.
I only started crocheting and knitting at school.
A lot went wrong there, but for the past two years
I’ve been knitting with felting wool and have already sold a few
bags. Now I really enjoy knitting.
Best regards,
Evi

Oh my, that was a long time ago, but I’ll never forget it.
Back in elementary school, we knitted bed socks with a lace pattern—I used yellow yarn back then.
After that, I learned most of it from Mom.
Best regards, Hilde
I also had my first experiences with crocheting at a very young age, even before I started school. By the time I was 12, I was already knitting Norwegian sweaters and teaching my siblings how to do it, and I got my first little electric sewing machine for Christmas—also before I started school. The seams on my first Barbie dresses were still on the outside :D.
Later, while in vocational school, I learned how to sew properly as part of my hobby—it’s one of the skills included in my job description.
I learned to knit when I was about 5 years old (well before I started school), and I still remember that my first knitted piece was a red “mini” skirt for my Barbie. I called it a mini skirt because I couldn’t wait to finally dress my Barbie in something I’d made myself. I was so proud of it...
Warm regards, and I hope everyone continues to have fun with their crafts

As a child, I knitted a very crooked, colorful scarf out of my grandma’s leftover yarn. :) Then a sweater for my teddy bear. For years, I didn’t crochet or knit at all, but then I found a crocheted sheep that I absolutely had to have—that was in 2009. :) But I couldn’t make head or tail of the pattern. So an English-speaking lady on YouTube taught me everything, and my first creation at age 33 was a little white mouse. :) Now I love to crochet and do it a lot. I’ve completely forgotten how to knit, but I don’t really need to know how anymore. ;)
That’s my story. If you’d like, feel free to check out my creations at lumigurumi.blogspot.com.
