It’s probably too late this year for a crocheted Christmas nativity scene, but it’s a long-term project anyway. Since Christmas will probably be quieter and more contemplative this year, you could start it during the holidays.
The nativity figures are about 10 cm tall and can be crocheted from leftover yarn. It’s best to start with the
Holy Family:

You can finish Mary, Joseph and the Baby Jesus in 2–3 afternoons, then the poinsettia, ox and donkey can follow.
Once you’ve enjoyed making them, you can expand your nativity scene however you like. For example, with the
shepherds, sheep and the Christmas angel:

And finally come the
Three Wise Men

with their pack animals. In the pattern, these are a camel, an elephant and a horse.
You’ll see, you’re sure to enjoy this project! You can pause it at any time, because the individual figures are quick to crochet, and pick it up again throughout the year whenever you have the time and feel like it.
