You can set up a Christmas nativity scene as early as Advent and use it to tell the Christmas story as an Advent calendar, adding a new element each day. On December 24, the Christ Child is then placed in the nativity scene.

You can crochet the figures for your nativity scene yourself using your leftover yarn. They’ll be about 10 cm tall, which makes them the perfect size: big enough to add lovely details, but not so big that they take up too much space.
You can follow these patterns:

Holy Family (Joseph, Mary, Baby Jesus) with manger, Christmas star, ox, and donkey

3 different shepherds, sheep (lying down), sheep (standing), Christmas angel

The Three Wise Men with their pack animals: camel, elephant, horse

If you start crocheting now, you’re sure to have your complete nativity scene by Christmas.

Angels are an absolute must during Advent and Christmas!

Here, a cute heavenly orchestra has been created from leftover yarn. The little chubby angels are about 8 cm tall. Each one plays a different instrument.

This guardian angel nightlight is a bit larger, at 20 cm. The crocheted angel stands over a battery-powered LED lamp that can be controlled with a remote. This lets you choose between warm white and colored light and adjust the brightness and how long it stays on.
This angel isn’t just an atmospheric decoration during Advent—it’s also a comforting nightlight for children who don’t like falling asleep in the dark.

Ho ho ho, here comes Santa Claus!
Huh? He looks completely different!
Oh right:
There, now it’s right!
The reversible doll “Nikolausi-Osterhasi”is a fun decoration that you can use during Advent as well as at Easter. By simply turning it inside out, St. Nicholas transforms into the Easter Bunny and vice versa. You can easily crochet the doll from leftover yarn.

And you can also use this St. Nicholas decoration as an Advent calendar:

Santa Claus with sleigh and reindeer are not permanently attached to each other. This way, you can arrange them a little differently each day and fill the sack or the sleigh with a little surprise.

And the breakfast table should be decorated for Christmas during Advent, too. These cute egg cozies (St. Nicholas, snowman, and Christmas angel) make it very easy and practical, and you can crochet them quickly from a few bits of leftover yarn. Even if you don't eat breakfast eggs, you can use them as table decorations.
Tip: The 3 also make a wonderful little Secret Santa gift or small present to bring along.

With this pattern, you can make your own door wreath and, thanks to traditional colors, Christmas flowers, and a little glitter, bring not only yourself but also all your visitors into the Christmas spirit.

This wreath is approximately 28 cm in size and consists of a base shape and 36 individual elements that create its rounded shape. The whole thing is then finished off with beautiful flowers.

Assembling the wreath is fun and very easy.

The bright red poinsettia—whether as a houseplant or in some handmade form—is an indispensable part of the pre-Christmas season. You can make this one yourself as a Christmas decoration for your tea light.

The tea light holder is made of cardstock and measures approx. 15.5 x 4 cm. It is very quick and easy to make and is well suited for beginners as well.

Stella

little Stella could soon have a place in your living room as winter decor or as a doorstop. With the fairly thick yarn of 25 m length per 50 g, she will be about 30 cm tall. The pattern is also well suited for beginners... if you don't have such thick yarn, you can use any other yarn too; the size will of course vary then.

These snowflakes made from sponge yarn hold their shape well, so there’s no need to starch them after crocheting.
The smooth, shiny fringes of the yarn reflect all the light—creating a beautiful sparkle.

The snowflakes are super easy and quick to crochet, even for beginners.

You can use the snowflakes in many different ways—as decorations, on the Christmas tree, as gift tags, to decorate greeting cards, and much more.

You can get the crochet pattern for the sponge yarn snowflakes here

Stella Star Set
beautiful decorations for the Advent season

-- to the pattern --

The stars are beautiful decorations for the Advent season and can be crocheted very quickly from a few scraps of leftover yarn.

Even as a beginner these stars are easy to crochet. The, as always, richly illustrated pattern with a step-by-step description also helps, and a crochet chart is included as well.

For the stars, 15g/20g/45g  cotton yarn (e.g., Gründl Cotton Fun, yardage 115m/50g) was used.
They measure 11cm, 13cm, and 22cm.

Little Angels
who says angels always have to be white?

-- to the pattern --

The little angels are crocheted very quickly from a few small leftover yarn scraps .

The pattern explains in detail with lots of photos how you can crochet the little angels yourself.
Only basic crochet skills are needed, so the little angels are also a great beginner project.

For each little angel, a good 15 g of cotton yarn was used, e.g. Gründl Cotton Fun (yardage 115 m/50 g).
One little angel is approx. 10 cm tall.
