You usually have some leftover cotton yarn lying around somewhere... That’s why smaller projects in different colors are a great way to use it up. For both patterns shown here, I used cotton with a yardage of 125 m / 50 gr.

With small leftovers in many different colors, you can knit this fun "Happy Dog" dishcloth in doubleface, for example. For this, you’ll need about 15 gr of each of the two main colors and about 5 gr of various other colors.

Click here for the "Happy Dog" dishcloth pattern.

If you have slightly larger leftovers, you can use them to make this romantic "Breakfast for Two" bread basket. The heart-shaped base is crocheted, and the rest is knitted in doubleface. For the base, you’ll need about 15 gr; for the knitted basket sides, about 35 gr each in two different colors.

This cute little doll skirt with a sweater and headband was conjured up from leftover yarn. It is very easy to knit and has no seams. It fits dolls measuring approx. 45-50 cm.

This is a winter set for babies, knitted from leftover sock yarn, and it can also be easily made by beginners with knitting experience. It consists of a hat, button-up neck scarf, mittens, and socks (with the simple mowi heel).

This colorful knitted doll cardigan with matching hat can also be knitted very well from leftover cotton yarn. It fits dolls or teddy bears measuring approx. 45-50 cm, as well as small newborns. Easy to knit with top-down raglan. Both pieces have no seams.

We’re two Finkli (baby shoes) and belong together, which is why we’re called a pair of Finkli or baby shoes.

We’re soft and keep little feet nice and warm. The babies who get us don’t want any others and are happy to wear us. We’re quick to knit and super easy to make. Colorful and bright leftover yarn is very welcome here—it’s perfect for mixing and matching.
That’s not the end of our story! The exciting part continues via the following link:

Hand-crocheted flowers/decorative wreath in bright and bold colors—perfect for using up leftover yarn. A special eye-catcher in any
home and a beautiful accent for any door or entryway. Perfect for any
season.

Only a small amount of yarn is needed to make a flower, so these can be crocheted from yarn scraps . The perfect way to use up leftovers!

The Tamburin Shawl can be stretched out in one piece using all kinds of leftover yarn or mini skeins. I knitted the beginning and end with a 100g skein, but that's not necessary.
Both patterns are explained in detail and also shown with charts.

For the name sign with the funny little owl, you also only need a small amount of yarn, so you can use up lots of your leftover yarn.

Of course, the crochet pattern also includes the complete crochet alphabet.

Difficulty level: easy, suitable for ambitious beginners with a little practice

Super lovely gift for a birth, a baptism, or a child’s birthday!

For this crocheted shoulder shawl, I used 400 grams of various leftover yarns. The pattern repeat spans 2 rows and requires knowledge of single crochet, chain stitches, and double crochet.

Dishcloths are something you can never have enough of. And when your leftover yarn bin is too full, this pattern is also great for crocheting up smaller amounts.

The pattern is worked over one row, and you’ll need to know single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet, as well as chain stitches.

Small leftover yarn is left over after almost every craft project. What useful things can you do with it?
My suggestions:

1. Appliqués
 Crochet Appliqués Baby
Here you really only need very small amounts. The appliqués are crocheted in no time. You can use them as decorations for a door wreath, the nursery door, a baby blanket, bibs, children’s clothing, or as gift tags or table scatter for the coffee table at a baptism.

2. Bookmarks
Frog Prince Bookmark
All bookworms and avid readers will love these! You can crochet bookmarks to suit the recipient’s preferences—here, for example, the Frog Prince for everyone who loves fairy tales.
Tip: Use cotton that is as thin as possible here (e.g., Catania fine) so the bookmark doesn’t add too much bulk inside the book.

3. Keychains
Mini Seal Keychain
Everyone loves a self-crocheted keychain! This cute mini seal is especially original. It balances a small ball on its nose.

So, have you found something you’d like to crochet from your leftover yarn? Then click on the blue text. That will take you to the pattern download, and you can get started right away!
