Dear users, dear authors,
what are you up to today? Are you doing well?

I’m knitting a bit more on my socks today, because my husband is working the night shift and my sewing room is right next to the bedroom, so I have to keep things quiet :-)
I also downloaded a few cute little creatures from the web a little while ago—I’ll print them out later and sew one or two of them by hand using plush fabric and such. I need some new toys for our local children’s charity, after all. I always tackle the clothes later in the year and sew quite a few items ranging from size 92 to about 116/122.

Mostly, I’m waiting to hear from my husband, who’s still in South America: Will he be able to come home or not? To take my mind off things, I’m crocheting a few more rows on the Mystery CAL or knitting an infinity scarf for my sister… Some bedding and kitchen linens are still drying on the balcony (which we call “Läubli” at our house), so I’ll have to do some ironing later.
But first, I want to take a quick siesta and read a few more pages (I just read that the library is closed, but luckily I still have some unread books on the shelf and can also order some reading material for my e-reader!)

I'm at work right now and I'm bored. I work in the restaurant industry, and it's completely dead here. I'm dusting right now.

Having coffee on the patio after an exciting morning at the office.
Now I’m going to do a little crocheting

Today I had my first breakfast on the patio… And over the course of the afternoon, I planted 15 winter-hardy climbing plants all over the garden… In a year or two, my garden will truly be a sea of flowers… But I’m already looking forward to this summer and am excited to see what grows on its own

I spent the morning tidying up my office cabinets (here at home) while the kids were in the garden (at least we’re having really nice weather 👍🏻).
At lunchtime, we added four young hens to our “chicken flock” and built another coop for them, since the old one is too small for the 13 we have now.
After that, we did a little gardening, and now the kids are eating sandwiches in front of the TV.
My father (who has a serious lung condition), who’s been living with us for the past six months, is unfortunately on “house arrest” right now, and the kids aren’t allowed in “Grandpa’s room.”
My husband is at the office; he even had a court hearing today (some other court hearings have been postponed), and we’re hoping that the law firm can continue operating as normally as possible (or, ideally, completely normally)—of course, with limited contact and so on.

Tomorrow I’ll have to take our youngest to the pediatrician, because she’s had an infection in the nail bed of her big toe for a week now, and despite Betaisodonna and other treatments, it’s not getting better—it’s actually getting worse...

Otherwise, we’re doing well; I’m trying to juggle my workday with the kids—I work from home anyway...
And we’re doing fine! That’s the main thing…
And if worse comes to worst, I have plenty of yarn and fabric at home 😁

Best regards

I’m home for two weeks for now too—on furlough, or “short-time work,” as you say.
The hotel is closed; no guests. No one knows how long this will last...

This morning I went shopping; we needed a few little things, but in the end I ended up with two big bags full. Not panic buying. The store was almost empty, no lines, and I had no trouble getting almost everything—except for canned tuna, which was sold out, and the large packs of pasta, which were all gone. So I just picked up different ones. As for toilet paper, they only had the 6-packs left instead of the 12-packs. No big deal. We don’t need much anyway, so we’d be fine for a week.
There’s still plenty of yarn, too—I crocheted an Easter chick today; it’s almost done. There’s plenty to do, so I definitely won’t get bored.

Despite everything, have a pleasant week, everyone!

My sister was over today; my husband picked her up so she wouldn’t have to take public transportation, and he took her shopping (she doesn’t have her own car), while I cooked dinner for us.

She’s in a bit of a bind right now because her daughter works in nursing and has two small children who need looking after—she often does this and enjoys it, but right now she just has a bad feeling about it...      Somehow, she just finds everything pretty annoying right now.

Anyway, we had a nice day together today, and she saw something I’d crocheted that she fell in love with.
So now I have an idea of how I can make her happy again.

Since the weather was finally really nice here too, I had the balcony door open almost the whole day for the first time—and right away, my pollen allergy flared up.
I don’t think I should venture out in public like this (sneezing and with watery eyes) right now....

I’m off work these days, too, and have started catching up on all the little things I usually don’t have time for. Right now, I’m making a little basket out of newspaper, and on the side, I’m continuing to knit my waterfall vest. Luckily, my son is already 21, but he’s a bit grumpy because he can’t visit his girlfriend right now and his studies are on hold, too. He can’t go to work either. Now he’s sitting in his room all the time, bored.
Yesterday I planted my first lettuce seedlings, which I’ll move out to the balcony later this year once they’ve grown a bit.
I also planted some lavender—we’ll see if it takes.

Arni, things are pretty slow at work for us right now, too. Seasonally, we’re only open Thursday through Sunday anyway, but the guests aren’t coming in. I’m assuming we’ll close this week or next; as things stand right now, we’re not restocking anything, and we’re adjusting the menu to offer items we still have in stock. It’s questionable whether I’ll even be allowed to work this week. I’ll wait and see what comes out of the crisis meeting....
Otherwise, I’m homeschooling my daughter so she’ll be ready for her tests after the break and has her English and French vocabulary and grammar down. So there are some advantages to this, too! I’ll be doing some woolly crafting, sorting through papers, and decluttering a few corners. There’s more than enough to keep me busy.

I’m currently trying to pull myself out of a hole I fell into yesterday.
For months now, my life has revolved entirely around my friend (91). After her third stroke, she’s now in a nursing home—at her daughter’s insistence. I visited her there every day, and we practiced walking, played games, did lots of crafts, and, of course, chatted. She really enjoyed those 3 1/2 hours. So did I, of course, even though it’s exhausting—especially since we still have to sort through a lot of things from her apartment.
Now yesterday afternoon the nursing home was closed down. One person has a fever and diarrhea. But a doctor only comes to the facility "in an emergency"...
However, some residents were walking around outside, and one lady said that her daughter was about to bring her food, and she would then take it home to her sick son. I’m completely at a loss!

I’m going to get started on everything that’s been left undone on my end, and I’ve got quite a few PiAs lying around too. I’m just still missing the right push.

Best wishes, and stay healthy, everyone.
Marlies

I’m really enjoying seeing pictures of colorful flowers like these right now...

Marlies, it’s just a tough time right now... everyone’s unsure about what’s actually okay and what’s best to avoid for now—and many older people, who are “creatures of habit,” are having a hard time adjusting.

Actually, it’s the right thing to do—to keep the most vulnerable more isolated and thus protected—but that doesn’t exactly make it any easier on the heart right now.... Luckily, we still have the phone and the internet.

We’re staying home today, too. Our son was coughing last night, so just to be on the safe side, we’re staying home and keeping to ourselves a bit.
The gym is closed right now, so we’re working out in the living room. It’s something new and actually kind of fun.
Since I’ve unfortunately been unable to sleep at night for several months now, I’m awake around 2 a.m. and sit in the kitchen knitting. But it has the advantage that the world still seems to be in order at that hour. No coronavirus and no bad news. I’m really enjoying that right now.
On the other hand, I’m completely exhausted by 8 p.m. and fall asleep on the sofa :-)
My “little one” (he’s 12 years old, and heaven help me if he reads this) now has 5 weeks off school, and we have a bunch of assignments to tackle every day.
Then, of course, there’s the work on my patterns. It’s certainly not boring.
In any case, I wish you all the best!!!! Take care of yourselves and stay healthy!
