I’m really looking forward to it—we’re heading off to the Waldviertel region in Austria for a few days in our camper. We’ll be visiting some lovely people there and—weather permitting—going for a few hikes. I guess my knitting needles will be taking a break for a few days.
Thanks, and have a great weekend, everyone. The weather’s supposed to be nice and sunny—typical fall weather—so we’ll see. I’ll definitely be crocheting, or maybe going on a bike ride to the Drammenfjord if it’s not too cold.
It was only 8 degrees this morning.
I’m feeling much relieved now—I have a case of pyelonephritis that’s subsiding, and I’m on the road to recovery. My mother had emergency surgery on Thursday evening, and it wasn’t until Friday that I found out she was in the ICU after the surgery—I rushed to the hospital yesterday, a one-hour drive, and I was on pins and needles; no one knew what was going on, no one was keeping us informed, and no one knew what condition she was in—the worry was enormous.
But then came the relief: She had a perforated bowel, which is why she needed emergency surgery; she was in the ICU just for monitoring. She’s already awake, is coming out of the ICU today, and has even been allowed to have some soup and something to drink. Thankfully, she’s doing reasonably well again!!! Our sigh of relief could probably be heard far and wide. Of course, I’ll be at the hospital with my mother this weekend, and otherwise I’ll be supporting my 70-year-old father.
Hey Sofi, you really don’t need to apologize. Health is everyone’s greatest asset—without it, nothing works.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. Of course, in a situation like this, the kids are there for their parents. I’d do the same.
So all the best to you all.
Sofi, it’s perfectly normal to want to vent about things like that. I’m glad it’s nothing more serious—but of course, I’d also like to send my warmest wishes for a speedy recovery to both of you.
@Sofis-welt I'm glad you're feeling better again and can therefore take care of your parents in a more relaxed way. I wish your mother all the best in her recovery. Yes, being an hour away can feel quite far when you're setting off with worries like that.
We have a slow-paced Sunday ahead of us today. One part of the kids is on vacation, so no meeting up with the grandchild. I got the turtle enclosure ready for hibernation yesterday, so my must-do is done too.
I'm continuing to knit a baby blanket; the baby was born unexpectedly 3 weeks early. I still have about 1.5 skeins left to knit up.
To everyone, thank you so much for the warm get-well wishes and kind words. I was very happy about them. Yesterday, my mother was already transferred to the regular ward, and the infusions were also already removed; she is now only receiving fluids by infusion and still isn’t allowed to eat anything. But we’ll see how she’s doing today. I’m just about to leave to go to her. My father is also quite relieved. Yesterday, you could clearly feel and notice the love and familiarity between the two of them; it was something truly wonderful to experience, especially nowadays. I think it’s lovely that the two of them were able to grow old together - hopefully they still have a few more years together!!!
Have a nice Sunday, everyone. It’s a bit cooler here, but the sun is shining. Enjoy the nice weather if possible!!!
