So, now I can show you the finished placemat. I’m thinking about turning it into a pillow. However, I don’t have enough yarn left for the back to knit it in DF. I’ll probably just knit it very simply using the leftover yarn. That should still work out well. In any case, I don’t want to use any other colors for it.





And this is how far I’ve gotten with Juna’s pants. They’ll have straps, and I’ve come up with something special for them. I’ll tell you about it when everything is finished.

That’s a super cute nest, Petra. The colors are totally my style. I think I’ll gather up my leftover yarn again sometime and crochet a few nests here and there.

My yarn is doing just fine—I don’t really have many scraps to speak of.

Christina, the placemat is done—yay! I’ll take a photo tomorrow. Of course, it has 220 stitches per row since it’s double-knit. Without having to count, I work faster and only need 7 minutes.

By the way, I also started a new project today. It’s going to be a pair of knitted pants with suspenders for Juna, made from the beautiful yarn from Finkhof. These will probably be finished in a flash compared to the placemat. It’s a nice change of pace right now. The loop scarf is growing on the side as well.

Christina, you’re doing great—2 to 2.5 hours for a pot holder. I actually checked the clock today while knitting to see how long it took me to complete a row. I was amazed myself. It’s just under 10 minutes for the placemat—which has 110 stitches, after all—and requires a lot of counting. The reason I’ve gotten so much done is that I’ve been knitting a lot in the garden these past few days. My wrists are holding up great—I haven’t had any problems with them.

Yes, Ruth, you’re right. I’m just now realizing that the colors go perfectly with Venice. Yes, the loop scarf is really colorful and goes with everything. That was my plan, too. It’s super cozy and soft.
I can totally understand why your grandson didn’t want to give the picture back. Not everyone has something like that. “Nonna” instead of “Grandma”—isn’t that Italian? It certainly sounds affectionate.

There’s cake again. Fresh out of the oven. It’s made with rhubarb, gooseberries, and cherries, topped with ground nuts. It tastes absolutely delicious!

Until two years ago, I also had my hair dyed with natural colors. Then I got tired of it and thought it was cooler to embrace my natural color. My 5-year-old granddaughter

made a funny comment recently. She asked me, “What color is your hair?” I replied, “Gray-brown.” Then she said, “No, not gray—that’s silver with brown.”

Sonja, that’s funny about Venice and Romeo and Juliet. Honestly, I wouldn’t have noticed it either, because to me, Venice is also an Italian city for lovers. Oh oh… that’s probably how it was for a lot of other people, too. So there’s absolutely no need to be embarrassed about it. It’s great that we have Ruth, who noticed it. :-) I can totally relate to how excited you are for your vacation. We love camping, too. I hope you have a wonderful time at Lake Constance with your family.

Ruth, I’d also thought about sewing in a zipper by hand. But to be honest, I’m not really thrilled about it. Inge doesn’t sew with knitted fabrics, so that’s a bit of a different story. I’m not quite sure yet if I’ll actually go through with the zipper.
Your congratulations card really reminds me of the cards I used to embroider for Easter. I even still have one of them that I once gave to my mom. I’ll have to dig it out. I always really enjoyed that embroidery, too. Your card looks very nice.

Yes, Christina, yesterday—at least until the afternoon—it was so nice that I could sit outside. Today it’s more like fall, with temperatures between 17 and 20 degrees and rain. But it’ll be better again starting tomorrow.
