Selling patterns

Do I need to register for a business license if I live in Austria and want to sell my pattern via crazypatterns?

As far as I know, only commercial sellers are allowed to offer their patterns on crazypatterns. That means you need at least either a business license or a similar registration—I seem to recall that some people here operate as freelance authors (or something like that—please correct me if I’m wrong).

There’s no such thing as “private sellers” here (like on other platforms).

But from my experience—and from what I’ve heard from others so far—the sign-up/registration process isn’t a big deal and can be done relatively quickly and inexpensively (in Germany, it usually costs between 15 and 35 euros).

Your best bet is to go to your local Chamber of Commerce (WKO). You’ll need to bring your ID and proof of residence, and the whole process is quick and easy. They assigned me to the knitters, embroiderers, and weavers category....
