Baby

Hi, everyone.
A friend of mine found out this week that both of her sisters got pregnant at the same time. Their due dates are both in late May or early June. We’ll see who wins the race and becomes the oldest grandchild of my friend’s mother. Because of this, we’ve started crocheting little socks so we don’t have to buy them. They’re already really expensive.  I keep asking myself, though, doesn’t giving birth hurt like crazy? I have to say, even though I have a boyfriend and we’re sexually active, I don’t really want to get pregnant. I mean, my boyfriend sometimes accidentally hurts me. If a baby were to come out, I don’t know if I’d survive it. Probably only with a C-section. What are your experiences with this?

Oh, you know, having kids is just like everything else. If you’d like to have kids, just go for it. Or do you want to look back on your life when you’re old and think, “I didn’t do all that because I was afraid”? That would be such a shame.
Childbirth—yes, it hurts. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t. But it’s not like you’re in constant pain for hours on end. It comes in waves with long breaks in between. Most of the time, it feels like really bad period cramps. Toward the end of labor, it hurts more, but that’s only for a short while. At the same time, your body releases hormones that dull the pain.
I don’t know how strongly you want children. I can’t and don’t want to tell you what to do about that. But if you want children, then go for it! The pain of childbirth is nothing compared to the pain of missed happiness.

Have people already placed bets on which baby will be born first? It’s not that common for two sisters to get pregnant at the same time. Was that planned or just a coincidence? By the way, I think the little socks for the babies are really cute. These days, almost no one does that anymore, except for the grandmas in those American movies. So, when it comes to C-sections versus natural birth, there are really different opinions, which is why I don’t think you can just generalize about it. However, I know a few women who at least had their first birth naturally. Maybe this article *link removed* on the topic will help you make your decision.
