A really simple pattern that even crochet beginners can handle easily is the pair of “Snowman and Snowwoman” pot holders, which would love to make themselves at home in your kitchen this winter.

They’re essentially made up of circles crocheted in spiral rounds. The pot holders are crocheted in double layers so you can slip your hand in from the bottom, just like a glove.

You should be able to do the following:
  • Magic ring,
  • chain stitches,
  • single crochet,
  • half double crochet,
  • double crochet,
  •  crocheting in rounds and rows.
And here’s what you’ll need:
  • 120 g white cotton (130 m/50 g),
  • leftover yarn in black, orange, pink, and light blue,
  • Crochet hook size 3
You can find the pattern here!

Here’s the pattern!

Bookworms can always use bookmarks. How about giving these funny ghost bookmarks to the neighborhood kids who visit you on Halloween instead of candy? That would be something completely different!

You can crochet the bookmarks quickly and easily and use up your leftover yarn. Use the thinnest cotton possible (such as Catania fine or sock yarn) so the bookmarks don’t add too much bulk inside the book.

Here’s the pattern!

Perfect for beginners and just right for the season—these Halloween window garlands are super easy to make and require no prior experience.

All the garland elements are cut out of cardstock and threaded onto the nylon string. The chains shown are each about 85 cm long, but can be adjusted as desired or needed.

This cute little jacket fits a floppy teddy bear that is between 20–25 cm tall. It can be crocheted quickly and easily from leftover yarn and is great for beginners (basic skills required).

Of course, the little jacket also fits dolls of the same size. So you already have a Christmas gift for a child or grandchild.

Very simple and optimized for beginners, this pattern for this pretty cowl fits beautifully under sweaters and blouses. All you need is a leftover ball of lightweight cotton.

Especially practical: You can also use the cowl first as a baby skirt and wear it yourself later. Anything is possible here. :)

The decorations/coasters " little snowflakes "

With a diameter of approx. 10 cm, they are very well suited for the Christmas season and create a cozy atmosphere. They can be placed beautifully on the festive table as coasters for candle holders or used as door and window decorations. And of course as Christmas tree ornaments . Not much yarn is needed to make one snowflake, so they can be crocheted from leftover yarn. A lovely way to use up leftovers! It is quick to crochet, has an easy difficulty level, and should not be a problem at all for a beginner. The following basic crochet skills should be known: chain stitch, slip stitch, and double crochet. The detailed pattern consists of 10 pages and is described step by step in German with numerous photos.

This blanket is perfect for beginners

The pattern explains each round in written form; if you prefer to work from a crochet chart, you’ll find one included in the pattern as well. You’ll only be crocheting double crochets, chain stitches, and slip stitches.

I used up leftover yarn to make this blanket: Schachenmayr Regia Angora Merino. However, any other yarn will work just as well.

Take a look at the pattern and get inspired

A small project for beginner knitters

For this dishcloth, you’ll need basic knowledge of knit and purl stitches.

The sheep design is provided as a knitting chart so you can count the individual stitches yourself, or it is also shown row by row in writing with pictures.

For my dishcloths, I used cotton yarn with a meterage of 115 m (e.g. from Gründl) or Pro Lana Joker 8 with a meterage of 87 m. The shorter the meterage, the larger the dishcloths will be. I made sure they can be washed at a minimum of 40°C.

" Small Christmas trees with pearl decorations " Decor, Christmas tree, Christmas tree ornament crochet pattern

To the pattern

In three steps, a beautiful decorative/Christmas tree ornament is quick and easy to make for Christmas: 1 - crochet2 - fold3 - sew on beads.

The decorations (size approx. 8 cm x 10 cm) are very well suited for Advent and the Christmas season and create a cozy atmosphere. They can also be used beautifully as door or window decorations for the festive season. Not much thread is needed to make one decoration, so they can be crocheted from leftover thread. Ideal use for leftover thread! For the " Christmas trees " I used the leftovers from the following yarns: • crochet thread 10, "Maddison" (50g, 250m) color no. 08 light green • crochet thread 10, "Maddison" (50g, 250m) color no. 01 white • crochet thread 10, "Maddison" (50g, 250m) color no. 10 dark green • acrylic beads (diameter approx. 3- 4 mm) • crochet hook no. 1.00 Alternatives: yarns "DMC" no. 10, or "Anchor" no. 10, or also "Pro Lana Häkelstar 100". I am happy to answer any questions and wish you lots of fun crocheting!
