He’s looking at his book with such interest. So cute.
Anton does that, too. There are some really great music books (which, surprisingly, aren’t annoying at all)

They’re called “Hörst Du?”; there are about 14 different ones. The “Classical Music” book is a huge hit in our house. It plays pieces like “The Nutcracker,” “The Trout,” and others—they’re really great. But of course, there are also versions with vehicles, animal sounds, and so on.

Milo also has lots of books that make sounds. I think it’s funny how he reacts to these sounds: at first, he’s always a little confused and kind of skeptical. But he remembers where you pressed to make the sound, and then tries to find that spot with his chubby little hands :-).

There are so many really great children’s books out there—with fold-out or pull-out pictures, different textures to touch, and so on. I’m always fascinated by them all over again every time :-).

Nicolas’ (6 1/2 months) attempts to crawl usually end in a belly flop and take him backward
instead of forward!

Inna: Yeah, there are some really great books. I just bought a “hidden object” book about the Elbphilharmonie. It’s still a little early, but as a Hamburg resident, it’s a must :-)))

Christina: Cute!

My granddaughter also has search-and-find books and loves them. There’s so much to discover—it’s always something new. While reading to her, I was amazed at the great books available today—the ones where you can pull out sections of the pages and that sometimes even make sounds.

Here’s a photo from September of me reading to her

Christina, very cute photo. :) By the way, I think your profile picture is really cute.

My son and daughter-in-law are already reading to the little one every evening—he in Swiss German, she in English. For now, Nicolas likes the books best that crackle or squeak, or the ones with soft fur to stroke.
Thank you so much for the comments on the photo!

This is my son trying his hand at sewing for the first time. ????He’s really excited that Mom sews and now wants to learn how to do it too.

That’s great. What’s it going to be?

@Arni: I just had him sew some fabric squares together. I ironed interfacing between the fabric layers so they wouldn’t be so flat. Now they’re little pillows for the stuffed animals. :)

@Vierna
Great, the idea with the doll pillows and that your son is also developing an interest in sewing.

Oops, I somehow missed the continuation of this thread :-).

@Christina, cute picture :-), the first step is done; by now, your grandson has surely got the hang of it :-).

@Monika, your granddaughter is such a little angel with her blonde curls!

@Vierna, I also think it’s great that your son sews—what you know, you always have with you ;-).

I now have a photo of my two grandsons that’s suitable for posting online. The younger one can almost stand on his own already.
