Are pom-poms in style?

Hi everyone :)

I just finished crocheting a hat that’s meant to be a gift for a 9-year-old girl.
Now I’ve bought a faux fur pom-pom to go with the yarn and am wondering if I should sew it on...
(It’s not a big deal—you can clip the pom-pom on and off once you’ve sewn on the base.)

But now I’m wondering:
What do you think? Are pom-poms (for kids) in style?
Do you like them? Do you wear your hats with or without pom-poms?

I think pom-poms are always in style, whether for kids or adults. I like them on other people, but I wear my hats without pom-poms myself (for whatever reason^^)

I really like pom-pom hats and would definitely sew on the clip-on pom-pom. You definitely can’t go wrong

I think a pom-pom really adds a nice finishing touch to a hat.

BUT: Very often, real fur is sold as faux fur, and because we as consumers can hardly track this, we often indirectly support the cruel killing of animals to produce these “faux fur pom-poms.” I just read a report about this recently.
  These days, I tend to make pom-poms out of wool myself.

Of course, you could do the lighter test before buying—hold a lighter to a few strands of fur to see if they burn. That would be a surefire way to tell if it’s real or faux fur. Unfortunately, hardly any seller would go along with that....
So maybe the better alternative is to stick with wool pom-poms after all. 

Pom-poms are definitely still in style. Yesterday at the fair, there were lots of booths selling pom-pom hats, and according to my daughter, they’re still “in.”

I agree 100% with Michaela—I was just too lazy to type all that on my phone ;-)
