Tonight, our eldest is celebrating his 19th birthday. There are still a few preparations to make. We’re having pizza and cocktails. Unfortunately, it keeps raining on and off—we’re hoping it clears up by tonight because they’re celebrating in the garden. But the patio is covered, and I’ve already set up a gazebo. The family is coming over on Saturday and Sunday, so I still need to bake a cake. Unfortunately, that doesn’t leave much time for crafts.
I’ll be selling at a flea market tomorrow—it’s my first time, so I’m really curious to see how it goes. Today I still have to bake a cake for it, and I’m already packing up the trailer. Once I’m done with that, I’ll head out for dinner at an Italian restaurant and stroll around Celle a bit.
After the flea market, I’ll be heading to a friend’s 50th birthday party in the evening—she’s throwing a huge celebration at a restaurant with dancing.
Sunday will be a day to catch my breath, spend time with family, and just relax :-)
Tomorrow I’m going to prep a few plums so I can make plum jam from them on Sunday.
Other than that, I’ll be doing a bit around the house and continuing to crochet my soul warmer.
Tomorrow we’re heading to the mountains with the grandkids for a long weekend. I’m really looking forward to it, and the weather forecast sounds great, too! Of course, I’ll be packing a craft project—I just can’t go without one. I didn’t even get to my knitting today because I was out on an outing and then out to dinner with friends in the evening! I’m already starting to feel withdrawal symptoms!!
After I turned quite a bit of fruit into purée, the honeydew melons were harvested yesterday. Yes, you read that right - 18 honeydew melons simply grew in the raised bed, and now they taste incredibly delicious. I’ve never eaten them this ripe before. They’re the kind of honeydew melons that don’t have smooth skin, but rough skin.
Yesterday and today are gardening days with knitting.
Yesterday I had a very special lovely experience that I’d describe with the title “That’s Love”.
In the evening, I noticed that I was missing one needle from my Magic Trio. The only place it could be was on our wooden terrace. My husband actually went outside in the dark with a flashlight to look for it. Unfortunately, my fear was confirmed: it had fallen through the gaps between the wooden boards to the ground. This morning, he unscrewed the board, and the needle was rescued. Sweet, isn’t it?
So I was able to sleep peacefully again last night, and now I’ll keep a better eye on my 3 needles.
Wishing you a lovely Sunday and best regards!
Monika
My husband is out walking with Anton right now. I’m feeling a little under the weather (I have a mild cold) and am lying on the sofa with my crochet project :-)
Sandra, first of all, I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes a break is just what the body needs. Enjoy it while your husband takes care of Anton for you.
The two of them unfortunately came back after just two hours.
But my parents are coming tomorrow. Then Anton will be off my hands again.
I’m so glad my parents don’t live as far away as you do from your grandchildren.
That’s really nice and a relief.
Oh yes, Sandra, I can totally imagine that’s great—for your parents, too. They’re surely happy to have a chance to spoil Anton again.
When I think back to when my son was little... I didn’t have anyone who could watch him for a while. I always had to manage on my own, even when I wasn’t feeling well. Somehow, though, it always worked out. Today, I sometimes wonder how I pulled it off. ;-) Grandparents nearby really are a wonderful gift.
Yes. And I don’t just have my parents, but also my mother-in-law. That’s really nice. And for me, my husband, and our relationship, it’s pure luxury. And the grandmas and grandpa are really enjoying it too. :-)
