Dear users, dear authors,
who has a lot of leftover yarn? Who has colorful leftover yarn?
Who has the most leftover yarn?
Let me know. I’d love to see some photos.

I’ll show you a small part of my leftover yarn.

This is going to be a new fidget blanket.

Well, I have a few more pictures, even though I’m totally embarrassing myself here. As you know, I’ve been on a diet and using only leftover yarn since mid-December. Can you guess why????
But this is only part of my leftover yarn—I’m not showing you everything.

Josefa, does that leave you speechless????

But I hardly think I’m the only one here. Judging by the comments (see “Schweinehundbezwinger”), it probably looks similar for some others too.

Wow, Marion, that looks like a lifetime’s worth of yarn! I have far less than that—I’ll see if I can take a photo.

Mel, as you can see, I’ll definitely be able to keep test crocheting for quite a while yet.

@Marion,
once you’re done with the “Schweinehundbezwinger” (it won’t take you much longer now), I’m sure you’ll have used up quite a bit of what’s in the photos.

@Marion
That’s a lot of leftover yarn.

I have plenty of leftover yarn too, but I can’t come up with that much. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos.
I have a moving box full of small leftovers in all sorts of different types (less than one skein each), many of which came from my sister, and I don’t know yet what I’ll make with them—they’re just too good to throw away.

And then there are various cotton yarn leftovers that aren’t in this box—and to me, they’re not really leftovers, because you can often use small amounts for amigurumi, or I still have skeins in the same color.

Josefa, I’m afraid there won’t be much of this leftover yarn left by the end of the year. I’m currently using up the larger amounts, for example for sweaters. The basket of leftover yarn for the blanket needs to get smaller, because I have to finish it.

You’re always so hardworking—you can do it.

I’ve gone through every nook and cranny of the house and gathered up all my yarn.
Here, as promised, is a picture of my leftovers—or rather, my entire yarn stash. The blanket and the two remaining cakes aren’t in the picture, but everything else is.
However, I’m going to give away my 700–800g of sock yarn in the bag, the black acrylic yarn, and the 4 skeins of Rowan Cotton. I have no idea why I have so much sock yarn—I can’t even knit socks... hmm...

OMG, Marion! That’s amazing—look at all the leftover yarn you have!
I only have enough to fit in a small basket now—at least the small leftover bits.
I also have some leftover thicker yarn, but I’m saving that for possible mending or for adding to knitting projects, so they’re not really leftovers.

Mel, you can make so much with sock yarn—for example, sweaters, jackets, vests, scarves, and much more. I really enjoy working with it. For example, I knitted the baby romper and my poncho cape entirely from sock yarn. I’m going to knit my granddaughter a pair of leggings from sock yarn for winter.

Have a wonderful day, everyone, and a great knitting/crocheting weekend! The temperatures have finally gone down!

Best regards from Monika

Monika, I can’t tolerate sock yarn against my skin, and I don’t have any little ones around that I could knit for either. My daughter doesn’t like homemade things anymore, my oldest has a wool allergy, and my husband doesn’t want anything either. I’ve really thought of everything, but I just can’t use it.

I’m thinking about starting a thread at the end of the year where you can all upload photos again of all your finished projects, all your UFOs, all your yarn purchases, leftover yarn, etc. etc.
--> A colorful photo album of 2018.

Would you like that?

Or would you prefer a thread like that every quarter?

I think having a thread like this once a quarter would be better, since you might give some of these things away and then not have them on hand for the photo.

Well,
on Monday, a thread called “Photo Album: 3rd Quarter 2018” will go live.
There, you can post all your photos of projects, UFOs, yarn purchases, leftover yarn, yarn stash, etc., all in one place.
It’s going to be colorful. :-)

Can projects for which you’ve written patterns be posted there too?
