Dear users, dear authors,
it’s a busy Tuesday.
What are you working on today?

Today I’m working on the concrete pots for my mom, whose birthday is on Saturday. I was actually just about to paint them when one fell over and broke. I could cry.... I’m trying to fix it right now, but time is running out fast. I hope knitting tonight will be more relaxing....

Mel, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that your gift will be finished in time.

I’m finally back to knitting diligently today. My UFO sweater has grown quite a bit in the meantime. The yoke is being knitted in rounds at the top—it’s coming along nicely.

It’s already 32° here again. Mel, that would be just the right weather for your concrete.

Thanks, Marion. Yeah, it’s just as hot here. But I have to put the concrete in the shade and spray it with water every now and then so it doesn’t crack.

Learned something new again.

P.S.: While I’m busy knitting here, I’ve got some company.

My husband is sleeping in the armchair and the dog is sleeping here with me under the table — they’re currently having a snoring contest.

Here’s the first one. It still needs to dry, but with this weather, that’ll happen in no time.

That looks great. Do you have a mold for that?

:0)

No!
Anyone can do that!
You dip an old, wet towel into wet concrete, let it soak up plenty of it, and then hang it over an upside-down bucket (the bucket should be lined with a bag and placed on a raised surface)
Smooth out the wrinkles a bit, pour a little more concrete on top, and smooth the base. Then wait 1–3 days (you might want to spray it with water to prevent cracking), and you’re done!

Wow, Mel, that’s such a great idea! So simple, yet so effective!

Unfortunately, I haven’t had any time for crafts at all today. Instead, I’ve been busy at work and planting lettuce and herbs. I went to the market this morning, and I absolutely had to get the plants into the ground today.

Have fun, everyone!

Monika, gardening can be just as relaxing as crafting!
I enjoy every minute in the garden and am thrilled about this absolutely gorgeous summer!

Mel, so that’s one way to put your old towels to good use.

I’d love to see a photo of the finished product in the gallery.

Yes, that’s right. I love our garden, too, and all the plants in it.
For me, summer is also wonderful because, for once, it’s not as hot as it has been in recent years. We almost always have temperatures between 20 and 26 degrees—it’s just great!

Sure, Marion, photos are definitely coming!
While I’m waiting for it to set, I wrote my first blog post. Every minute is put to good use.....

I won’t be doing much crafting today—Tuesdays are always a bit tricky! This morning I went to the market, tended to my tomatoes, bought some new lightweight hiking shoes this afternoon (the soles came off my old ones last Saturday during a hike with our friends!), and paid some bills. At 7 p.m., we’re going to Bible meditation, and after dinner, I have to pack my backpack for tomorrow’s hike. Maybe I’ll also be able to crochet a few stitches or at least weave in some loose ends. Yesterday, though, I was pretty productive and crocheted some baby sneakers…

Hi everyone!
I won’t be getting much crafting done today. We’re having guests over for a barbecue tonight.
It’s one of my husband’s suppliers. He’s coming over privately with his girlfriend, and since my husband likes him, he invited him to our place.

Generally, that’s no problem, but they’re Swedish, they don’t speak German, and my English isn’t perfect. I’m a little nervous. Almost all the preparations are done now, and they should be arriving any minute.

I wish you all a wonderful day. Petra (if you’re reading this today): I hope you’re doing more or less okay!

Today’s nearly six-hour mountain hike took us to four wonderful lakes in incredibly vivid shades of blue and green. Unfortunately, though, I realized that my stamina leaves a lot to be desired when hiking uphill! By the way: I crocheted two granny squares on the train ride!

Josefa and Sandra: Thank you! These are two of the four mountain lakes in Central Switzerland that we hiked to yesterday.

Christina, those are some gorgeous views—wow!
When we lived by Lake Constance, we also used to drive over to Switzerland quite often to go hiking.

The barbecue was really nice. We spoke a mix of German and English. They both understand German, which of course made things easy. And my homemade sauces were a hit.

And Anton was such a well-behaved child, too :-)
