Dear users, dear authors,
let’s say someone really, really wants to go from beginner to advanced as quickly as possible. What tips do you have (for all types of crafts) to speed up the process?
Let me know.

I believe that for all kinds of crafts, the saying “Practice makes perfect” holds absolutely true. If you want to learn something, you have to practice, and if you want to learn quickly, you should practice a lot and often—in other words, don’t shy away from challenges and don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t work out, but keep trying again and again. If you run into specific problems, ask someone who’s better at it or search for answers online, and then try again—until you’ve got it down!

Needlework is also a matter of technique, and I strongly advise everyone to master the basics first. A workshop, a craft group, or a kind grandmother or neighbor can be incredibly helpful. The internet alone won’t necessarily be enough.
And then practise, practise, practise—everything takes time. Once you’ve got the basics down, everything else comes together much faster.
By “basics,” I also mean knowing how a sewing pattern works, how to sew in a zipper, or how to make a neat seam. You need that for knitting and crocheting, too.

Just don’t be afraid. The vast majority of stitches—whether in knitting or crocheting—aren’t difficult, even if they sometimes look complicated. Most of the time, it’s just a matter of doing what the pattern says and not getting discouraged before you even start, thinking, “I’ll never be able to do this.” Have confidence in yourself! And if something doesn’t work out right away, what’s the big deal? Just rip it out and start over.

If you see a pattern you like that’s meant for experienced crafters or even experts, go ahead and give it a try.

Sometimes these projects turn out to be relatively easy in the end.

The best way to go from beginner to pro is to take on projects that are labeled as difficult or more difficult.

Practice makes perfect. You can only learn if you put in the effort yourself—theory alone won’t get you anywhere.
But there’s plenty of help online; on YouTube, there’s a video for almost everything.
Don’t let early mistakes discourage you—not everything works out the first time.
