Dear blind people,
I’d love it if you’d chime in here in this thread to give feedback or just join the discussion in general, if you’d like. Hopefully, we’ll find plenty of suitable patterns.

And here’s a general note:

Dear users (blind or not), dear authors,
At the request of Rahel from Haekeltherapie, I’m opening this promotional/collection thread for suitable patterns to make Crazypatterns more welcoming for blind people and to showcase relevant patterns here.

The following points, which Rahel from Haekeltherapie shared with me, are important—I’ll just copy them here:
  • The pattern should be written out in full; no schematic diagrams (though both are acceptable, of course). The text will then be read aloud to blind people.
  • The pattern must be written entirely in words. Pictures are allowed, but they’re simply not helpful...
  • Abbreviations, punctuation, and parentheses are fine. They’ll be read aloud as well.
  • Clothing and blankets are particularly suitable... Amigurumi or similar items are not suitable.
@Authors,
you can post all suitable patterns here—there’s no limit on the number, of course. However, the patterns should fit the theme and meet the requirements.

Have fun and good luck to everyone!

The shopping bag with hearts and the word “Mama” is crocheted using the filet technique, which uses only chain stitches and double crochets. It’s crocheted in rounds, and the carrying strap is also crocheted onto the bag. Using the specified materials, the bag will measure approximately 40 x 50 cm.
The pattern includes pictures and a stitch chart, as well as a table that describes each round stitch by stitch.
You can find more detailed material information and the pattern here!

The Milk Can Potholder is crocheted from blue and white cotton yarn. The raised white dots are a bobble pattern, which is explained in detail in the pattern. The potholder is crocheted double. Both parts are then crocheted together and left open at the top so you can slip your hand inside.

To go with it, there is the Coffee Cup Potholder in the same pattern, this time crocheted with red and white cotton yarn. Here again, 2 parts are crocheted and then crocheted together at the end.
For both potholders, there is a graphic counting chart, but also a table in which each row is described stitch by stitch.

If you would like to purchase both patterns together, you can save more than 20% compared to buying them individually with the value bundle with both patterns!

In my shop stjerne61, all patterns are written without abbreviations; I consider this model especially suitable for working with blind people.

Crochet Pattern: Pillow with Mouse Appliqué

It is crocheted using only single crochet stitches, and in no time at all you’ll have created a stylish decorative piece. Even without the appliqués, the pillow is a simple eye-catcher.

I have a knitting pattern for a neck roll to offer here. It is knitted with a circular knitting needle (60 cm long) and is really easy to knit.
To the pattern!

These balloon covers are knitted with a set of double-pointed needles and are also very simple, knitted only with knit stitches. All that’s required is increasing stitches and knitting them together!

And here’s the pattern!

These little socks/house socks are also very easy to make. They are knitted using just two needles and knit stitches!
